Hi everyone!

This week I'm looking at the classic punk track Into The Valley by The Skids, which features some brilliant playing by the late Stuart Adamson. This one has been on my to do list for some time, and it was fun to finally learn it properly and make the video.  Here's the link:

The tab/Guitar Pro file can be found below. I've tabbed out all 3 of the chorus parts I go over in the video - choose the one you like best, or feel free to mix and match.

Hope you enjoy learning it.

Speak next week,

Adrian

Yes!

Haven't watched yet. Dunno if it's at my lowly skill level. But a thousand Yes. Thank you Adrian

Michael Burke

Love it Adrian. Fond memories of this tune from late ‘70s.

Robert Frame

Absolutely brilliant .Thank you. McGeoch and Adamson the reason I play guitar.

Would love a lesson on Scared to Dance by Skids

Inexplicably, I've never heard this track, so thanks for filling a gap - fantastic track and lesson!

Side note - finally got around to listening to the Pavement re-issue of Terror Twilight last weekend. With that comes a fresh request for Speak See Remember

Thanks Jas - I'm sure you'll be able to tackle this one. The riffs aren't too hard. A couple of tricky licks in the soo, but the main melody is fairly simple.

Yes, might try and do that - this lesson seems to have been well received, so clearly there's a lot of love for Skids/Adamson out there!

Always nice to be able to introduce people to great music they might not have heard before!

Yes, one of the best Pavement records. I'm going to be seeing them later in the year when they come to London. Will see what I can do with Speak See Remember.

Adrian, on a similar punk trail would you consider doing Is Vic There (Department S). I have the main riff down but the frantic rockabilly licks dotted around, and the fast background chug (this could be a synth not sure) are a bit tricky to unravel.

Terrific show in LA a couple of weeks ago -- you're in for a treat
