I saw The Cars September 4, 1982, second day of the US Festival in San Bernardino California. They played during the afternoon under the heat of 110+ degrees. Their set was great. You can see bits and pieces of it on YouTube, with full audio 01:01:16 with said My Best Friends Girl. We got pretty close to the stage. For years ive unsuccessfully tried to see my friends and myself in the crowd.I have a “funny” story of that extremely hot day regarding The Cars, my friends and myself. Cheers

Thanks. The Talking Heads were my favorite band at the 1982 US Festival. They blew me away. I was a fan before the US Festival but seeing them live floored everyone and myself. The Talking Heads at the 1982 US Festival is my favorite top 3 live gigs I’ve witnessed. Amazing first day in order: 1. Gang of Four, 2. Ramones, 3. The Beat, 4. Oingo Boingo, 5. B-52s, 6. Talking Heads, 7. The Police. The second day was as mind blowing as the first. Ha, I thought then and now The Ramones should have headlined the first day, but, my favorite all-time YouTube clips from the 1982 US Festival are of The Beat/English Beat. Cheers

I wasn't at that big festival. But did see Gang of 4 on July 22nd of "82, and Talking Heads 24 days later. (Tina was pretty pregnant by then, so it was a somewhat abbreviated set.) And the night after Talking Heads--The Clash. That...was a pretty good month, as far as months go. :-)
