Hello all,

I wanted to keep it simple and - I hope- fun this week with a look at another track from one of  my favourite records ever: Raw Power by Iggy and The Stooges. Here's the link to the video -

https://youtu.be/lXYOz5FemNk

Nothing fancy here, just some incredible riffs and wild soloing from the great James Williamson. I've tabbed out the 3 basic riffs and made a few soloing suggestions. (Didn't attempt to tab out the end solo as that would defy my musical notation abilities, and it probably wouldn't be very useful anyway!)

Hope you enjoy it.

Speak next week,

Adrian

Always nice to see you breaking out the ol' Les Paul. Killer song and lesson!

Cheers Andy. Yes I should really use the LP more - killer guitar, particularly for this kind of thing.

I can do a solo like that, problem is I can't always turn it off when it isn't suitable. When I heard TV died, the first person I thought about was Adrian, I'd always known about Television and Richard Hell and all those guys but it was this channel that opened my eyes to how talented Verlaine actually was.

Sad news indeed Adrian. Thanks for another great leasson. While I like Raw Power, my favourite Stooges Album is Funhouse as I'm a big fan of Ron Asheton's Guitar. Not sure if you are taking "requests", if so, would Dirt, the last track side one of Funhouse be something you would consider?

In a spooky internet coincidence my YouTube feed posted a < 1 minute video of James W sitting in the street playing this, I couldn’t remember if you’d done raw power or search and destroy, it was the latter, but then magically the former as well so thanks!

I love Search and Destroy too.

I just finished reading a book about acoustic guitar making and general snobbery so this song was really what I needed. A proper cleansing of the palette!!
