This week, a tune from one of my favourite songwriters, Syd Barrett. I set to do a simple acoustic strumming kind of lesson, but got a bit carried away and ended up  doing a full version with extra electric parts on top.

Here's the link -

The acoustic parts are pretty easy if you know your major barre chord shapes. For more of a challenge you can try improvising some electric ideas over the top of what is a pretty unusual chord progression.

Tab can be found below. The electric intro and acoustic parts are in the main tab. Then there's an extra tab containing some of my electric ideas.

Have fun!

What a fantastic choice for a lesson! I dont care for any 1970s Pink Floyd, but syd Barrett was Just Out of this world.

I dont really want to bother you with requests, but do you know the scottish Post punk band scars? They only put out one record in 1979, which is an underrated gem, with really interesting guitar parts that i guess could bei right up your alley.

Excellent song choice. Thank you! Not sure if there's a "lesson" there but the first dissonant bars of Barrett's brilliant and oddly groovy "No Man's Land" always blew me away as a way to kick in a song.

Not same but another interesting chord progression is weird Wrapping Paper by Cream.

inspired song choice, thanks

I must know that one, but can't recall how it goes. Will give it a listen this week!

Yes, I do like some post-Syd Floyd, but the stuff they did with Syd is still my favourite.

Don't know this, though I think I might have heard the name. Will check it out, thanks!

Hey Adrian, is there a separate tab for the intro? I think I'm only seeing the lead tab. Thank you!

anyonecanplayguitar

Hi Emilio. Yes, it should be there right under the post. I can see it here, but maybe it’s not showing up for you? Let me know if you can’t access it and I’ll try and help further.

Emilio Villalba

Im only seeing two Lead files one is a GP file and the other is PDF same name.

Ah I understand. The intro is in the other tab, before the acoustic part. Sorry if that seems a bit illogical, just wanted to keep the parts on the record separate from my own ideas. Hope you enjoy learning this one.

Thank you! Love your videos and song choices.
