Ben has such good taste 😩 Loved listening to y’all talking about animated films. Especially A Silent Voice and him talking about being a crier? So sweet 🥹

Such a good episode! Fun fact, Your Name was a breakout hit because Studio Ghibli dissolved its animation studio (kept the distribution) and a lot of them immediately got absorbed into Shinkai’s project. I have a fondness for his earlier works too. They’re a little unpolished because he did them alone but it has the same DNA as the bigger movies.

My favourite part of the film Trap is how, when you think the movie is about to end it just keeps going on trap does that about four times.

That Mister Sinister shirt go pretty hard 🌝

It's good to know I would be the absolute worst person to interview for this. I think half my answers would be "Oh geeze, I dunno..." :)

The tin solder is pretty traumatizing in fantasia 2000

By the way... Robinhood and Maid Mariam from Disney Robinhood is the only proper answer to first furry crush

Miyazaki is the GOAT. I love all of his work, so, so much. Jon, you forgot to mention while listing all of the things he is absolutely right to oppose is the use of generative AI imagery.

TheSassyPlatypus

In all fairness....they get the questions ahead of time so that they can think about it ....otherwise it wouldn't flow as easily 💗💗💗

Its always so great to hear these Stinky Pops from people in my age group. I listen while getting ready for work and i love answering the questions and then half the time they are the same answers. Ben has good taste ( and i would agree with Fantasia)

As soon as Ben said TV series I said Scrubs

Lemmon64

Nah Ben cooked dude. Absolute legend

Jackie Mudge-Cooke

Green Mile is one of the few Stephan King books I managed to read. Along with few books to read after I've seen the movie adaptation. It was more sad, especially in the nursing home.

Hi, Jon! Far be it from me to try to "Um... Actually" you about your own name, but when you said your parents gave you the spelling that was shared with the slang for toilet, I was genuinely surprised! I had it so deeply ingrained in my head that the spelling was "john." Your assertion (which was backed by the presumed clout and expertise of someone phonetically named /ˈdʒɒn/) warred in my head with my own long held belief. I flipped back and forth between what I would believe moving forward, until I finally realized the obvious answer was to do a quick bit of research. I've spent about an hour (now 90 minutes...) on this clearly very, very important topic, trying to find a reliable source that I could trust, and which I could share with you that you could find reliable and trustworthy too. Finding a verifiable source on what the "proper spelling of slang is," is perhaps a contradiction, but here's the best I could do, which was to find sources that seemed reliable in explaining the origin of the use of your phonetic name as slang for toilet: https://www.history.com/articles/who-invented-the-flush-toilet https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2010/08/why-the-toilet-is-sometimes-called-a-john/ There were plenty of assertions that "john" is the "correct" spelling and that "jon" is "incorrect," while there were relatively few claiming the reverse. I think the best that I can say is that "john" seems to be the preferred spelling (by number of people) and that, despite the intensity of random people's opinions on the Internet, neither is "incorrect." tl;dr - I thought you were wrong about the slang for toilet being spelled "jon," so I spent 90 minutes of my life determining that it didn't matter Cheers from your fan, Jesse W.

True story, the opening song of A Goofy Movie literally runs through my head at least one time a day. Randomly just start thinking/singing the lyrics in my head.

I always forget how cute you guys are until I actually watch the podcasts. Y'all are the perfect blend of handsome and adorable!

I think Studio Ghibli is pronounced Jee-Blee. In Japanese it is Jiburi, but "r" is sometimes subbed for "L". It does come from an Italian word, but even that would be Gee-Blee, I believe.

KnittedTweed

Problem is I always listen whilst driving and forget which one I fancy watching. Need a list of movies and a one liner haha

Rachel Hansen

I think my answers are pretty much identical to Ben.

Sabrielwalker

‘Night On Bald Mountain’ from Fantasia is indeed scary! I always fast forwarded through that part when I was a kid! Watch out for the jump scare in Fantasia 2000 with the phoenix chapter!

Roxanne and Max were part of my bi awakening, for sure!

Get Smart is such a good show. My aunt had a box set of the whole show and I remember binging it out of curiosity. Never seen the movie though, I’ll definitely give it a watch.
