"The only spies without trust issues are either young or dead." -- My favorite Coulson line of the season.

Lyla

Yes this is a great episode! Really fires on all cylinders and so satisfyingly ties the two main storylines neatly together. This show really is the best at doing that. I’m such a fan of how the Coulson/Rosalind storyline/relationship comes to a head here, their confrontation near the end of the episode is so charged and full of tension, I particularly love the realisation that Rosalind is unaware of Malick’s true intentions, it’s all so well done. And ugh, that Fitzsimmons scene. Talk about filled with tension. What a scene, what a kiss. It’s so deliciously complicated. Jemma obviously genuinely loves both him and Will, and Fitz is being so understanding and supportive, it was nice to see how’s he truly feeling underneath it all. And love that they called back to all the major events/missed opportunities of their past. So so good! (Oh and on the topic of relationships, I’m so there with you with Philinda!) Obviously love the mission of Bobbie, Hunter, Daisy and Mack - Hunter and Bobbie are so fun together in particular. Even Ward, who I’d pretty much lost interest in at the start of this season, is a pretty great villain here, and watching things unfold and come together there is again, pretty satisfying, if also concerning. Absolutely fantastic reaction! So agreed with all your points at the end there! Can’t wait for you to see how things unfold this season (it’s so good).

Chloe has stated in an interview that when she heard about the FitzSimmons kiss scene she knew she had to be on set for it. So when the day came around she was on set, eating iirc, when she heard they were filming she made sure she was there, in the background so as to not freak Lil and Iain out.

The actor playing Giyera is Mark Dacascos and for the longest time I thought I knew him but not from where. It was only later that I realised he was The Chairman on the Food Network show Iron Chef America (I used to live in LA and my wife was a great Food Network fan) but I hadnt put 2 and 2 together as they were so different roles! Great episode, and it just goes to show that all FitzSimmons needed to do was kiss to figure out the whole Hydra/NASA/Inhuman connection.

Haha that is such a great behind the scenes detail, thanks for sharing it!

Such a good episode! Without fail (or at least I can't think of anything off the top of my head), if ever you think a storyline is pointless or unrelated to the main one, think again lol. Could there have been a different path than a love triangle? Probably. But unlike most love triangles, this one is both understandable — as Fitz said, Will's a genuinely good guy and they gave each other hope in a hopeless situation — and does serve a greater purpose by feeding into the larger plot. Not to mention the mission to rescue Will isn't just a Simmons-wants-her-guy-back, it's the right thing to do. They'd want to rescue anyone who was stranded there. So while it does function as an obstacle in the FitzSimmons story, it's not *only* that. Equally, I love love love that there's no toxicity. While Fitz is naturally upset with the situation, neither he nor the narrative blames Simmons or acts like she did something wrong. There's no pettiness or passive aggressiveness involved. So refreshing. The expansion of Hydra lore was great. It adds interest and also helps explain their cockroach habit of never going away. They're not just a Nazi-funded offshoot or turncloak SHIELD agents, they're an incredibly old organization that has a supernatural goal they've been working towards that most people don't know about. Oh, Ward. He's such a thorn in the side but really entertaining. Brett Dalton looks like he's having such a blast playing him!

So agree with everything you’ve said here, but you’ve especially enlightened to me why I’ve never minded this love triangle, whereas usually I dislike them pretty strongly in other shows - it is absolutely the lack of toxicity and pettiness, the fact that they actually behave like adults, whilst still expressing how they honestly feel. I wish more shows took this route if they feel they have to include a love triangle!
