Hey Friends!

Welcome back to When Life Gives You Tangerines Ep 10 here on Wednesday with the Wives. After Ep 9 we had to go back and figure out who the landlord is and we are embarrassed to say we didn't realize it was Young-woo's Dad from our last K-Drama! Still thanks for the comments to help solve it. Anyway, lots of story was happening last episode but let's hop into Ep 10.

Today we see Ae-soon and Geum-myeong continue to navigate life and it's challenges. We hope you brought tissues because these flashbacks are awful and that ending has us worried. One think we are banking on is the voice narrating is an alive and well Geum-myeong so she has to be ok.

We are stressed after this one and what happens next? We'll have to wait until next week to find out.

I don’t know how this works, but I’m going to start now to make suggestions for upcoming shows - Queen of tears - Perfect Crown ( Another IU show) - When the phone rings - Destined with you - Lovely runner - Twinkling Watermelon

KoreanPicasso says, "Everyone has a dark side" and the very next scene we hear the TV talking about the murder of a young girl had me thinking that maybe he might be a serial killer, lol. But him putting Guem-Myeong on his back and helping rush her to the ambulance I think proves otherwise....for now. The dark spot on the floor of the room Geum-Myeong was sleeping in was a hole where gas from the coal furnace was leaking through. It's winter and during this time people still burn coal for heat in their homes. The fumes should be vented to the outside of the house normally. With the windows and doors closed it filled up the room and deprived her of oxygen. Think smoke inhalation during a fire or carbon monoxide poisoning. We don't know how long Geum-Myeong was oxygen deprived and it could lead to anything from brain injury to death.

Perfect Crown!!! 🥰🥰🥰

Many houses in Korea use coal for floor heating, so I guess the gas could have leaked through the floor. As for the lock outside the door, I think Geum-myeong had mentioned it to the landlord in epi 9 that she wanted one for privacy. It was just really bad timing that it happened to be locked that day. And yes, I think this episode was really about a mother’s instinct. ❤️

BTW, I appreciate that you're using the character names when reacting and recapping. You have Geum-Myeong's name pronunciation half correct. The Geum is pronounced more like Goom/Koom (rhyming with doom) rather than sounding like Guam (the country). Please keep up with WLGYT . I really enjoy your reactoins and WLGYT is one of the best series I have ever watched across all media (western and Asian).

i binged watch this ep right until the last ep hahahahahaha

cuesegue .

Yeah they used to burn coal under the floor boards for heat back in the day and when she moved to wardrobe, the floor peeled up. It was fine until the weather got colder and they had to start using the coal with all of the windows and doors closed. Similar to carbon monoxide poisoning. This really was a chilling episode from the dragonfly on.

2026-09-06 20:00 The theme of this episode was a mother's intuition and learning to appreciate that. When Geum-myeong commented on feeling regret at no longer feeling her mother's relentless worry, she said "It was long after..." Meaning, Ae-sun lives a long, long life and after she passes away (in old age), her daughter ends up missing her presence. As some have already mentioned, the coal gas poisoning is from poor ventilation, something that most houses in Korea experienced back then. There is more detail about it but this is the gist of it. Ae-sun requested from her landlord that the lock on the door be fixed because his son kept coming into her room to play.

but i think Geum-myeong wanted the lock to be from inside, so she can have privacy. That's exactly why Gwan-sik gave Ae-sun the lock to go to Seoul and install it for Geum-myeong.

Grouchgod

Yes yes yes to all these

I can even imagine how a mother must feeling always worried about their children's life ever since little, everything is dangerous for little kids and they do know how to take care of themselves OMG I CANT

Also, the Picasso guy actor with this current look reminds me of Park Seo Jun (chef at Jinny's kitchen, Taehyung's friend) I think maybe your next k/drama could be one of his! lol

OH Queen of tears and twinkling watermelon are such masterpieces! So gooddddd and the acting was top tier

I agree that it was eerie! The dream sequence is a little supernatural because it starts with Geum-Myeong’s dream of falling off the bike and crying for her mom before it reveals her mom’s “intuition” dream that people kept asking her about.

Queen of Tears is one of my top 3 dramas! I know there are some issues, but I still love it. I think they would love it, especially with all the crossover from CLOY. It's so funny and heartbreaking and I think they would love it.
