I'm really kind of glad I was into hard drugs in 2004. It forced me to be completely checked out for this election. So, get a drug problem if you don't want to be bogged down by election news.

I should have listened to more of the episode before hitting up the comments. I totally remember the school that tried to teach intelligent design alongside evolution. That happened in my home state of Kansas. I think it was right after I graduated high school. They wanted to put stickers on the science books that explained evolution was one theory in addition to intelligent design. It was absolutely nuts.

I guess I wasn't that checked out because I remember the schools in my state (Kansas) trying to teach evolution around that time. I don't know why I tuned out the election so much. I hated Bush and, while I was a serious drug addict, I was also a pizza guy. I spent a lot of the 2000s driving around listening to NPR.

Tony Snow... there's a name I haven't heard in a long time. If it's any consolation, this show was filmed right before he discovered he had aggressive colon cancer in early 2005. He died of colon cancer in July 2008. So be comforted by the fact he was sick and dying for several years before dying in agony. Bill was dead wrong about the Carter and Reagan election and it's absolutely stunning how stupid he is. Carter started cratering because of the Iranian hostage crisis, which we already knew in 2004 was influenced by Reagan's campaign using contacts behind the scenes to delay the return of American citizens to the United States so he could use it to claim Carter was ineffective. Carter had already collapsed in the polls by the end of the summer before a single debate took place. Bill is literally old enough to know this shit, but he was counting on most of his audience being too young to have been alive for it.
