Sometimes there are lights that shine so bright that not even the worst men on Earth can snuff them out.

if u ever wanna swap browsers, Vivaldi is fire, and that combined with Startpage instead of google has radically reduced the AI content otherwise, there’s a ‘hide AI slop’ extension on chrome webstore

Brooke

At the beginning, Joe Piscopo kept touching Bateman’s leg, so when she grabbed his hand later, I thought she was kind of making fun of what he had been doing

This was kind of amazing. During one of the episodes while you were on leave, an episode of Real Time was covered where the entire thing was suddenly stopped by an audience member shouting at the panel. Everything ground to a halt until he was removed. I thought at the time that it really exposed the kayfabe of these kinds of shows, how carefully curated they are to only allow certain perspectives. Anna here was that on steroids, you couldn't nail her down and she wasn't willing to play the game with them and you just realize how fake this experience truly is. Only one panelist knows how to engage this woman while the others are completely thrown off. And like... I have to say I did not expect that panelist to be Joe Piscopo!

Anne reminds me of some independent / minor party Australian senators of recent years. Because we have compulsory and preferential voting, sometimes we get senators that are the most regular people. And of course they become novelties to the media, and suddenly they have a massive nation-wide audience as well as an elected position. For better or worse, you get someone who talks a little like Anne - like a regular person. I don't agree with a lot of the policy positions of minor party/independent senators, but at least it is actual representation.

Also, I can not believe these people are 'media professionals'. How hard is it to start off by acknowledging the outfit and be like, "Anne thanks for coming, I am interested in the ensemble, is there a story behind it?" And you can listen to her talk a little, maybe even tell her to hold that thought, we'll come back to it... Maybe then you wouldn't have someone starting off with 45 seconds of uninterrupted, incomprehensible word salad. They might go along with the program a little. Don't get me wrong, I love the chaos, I'm here for Anne. I just can't believe Bill and the other panellists are actually employed in media in any way.

PS you can still be a smarmy dickhead or challenge the stuff the annoy person is saying, but it might be a little more freakin' watchable
