The New Rule segment really pissed me off, because Bill Maher is saying: "Why do so many people want to take up arms against this country's political leaders?"—without even considering that it might have something to do with the fact that we actually have openly fascist, white supremacist leaders running this country. What makes Bill Maher the worst is that he continues to treat Trump as if he is a normal president, and you just sit there thinking: “when are you going to wake the fuck up?!” The number one thing I hate about Bill Maher is his lazy attempt to both sides everything, as well as his categorical refusal to take into account—even for a single second—what is actually happening in the country. People are fucking terrified economically; gas prices are skyrocketing, the job market is a dry desert, farm bankruptcies are increasing, but he and his best friend, Senator Brain Damage are insisting that we must give President Marie Antoinette his own special ballroom. This is what Parker Molloy calls "sanewashing"; and right now, Bill Maher is actively sanewashing the authoritarianism we are witnessing. People are getting screwed economically. The federal government has been turned against its own citizens. Republicans are redrawing electoral districts specifically to oust Democratic (Black) representatives, especially in the South. For God's sake, Trump uses Nazi rhetoric to describe both Democrats and immigrants, and yet Bill Maher and Senator White Shrek keep screaming: "How dare you compare Trump to Hitler!" I am NOT condoning political violence; but have those two dildos ever considered that we are witnessing a normalization of political violence and the Democratic base wanting their leaders to be more left-wing—precisely because of all this vile shit we’re up against? This country is going to hell in a handbasket, and Bill Maher is too busy being like: "Both Sides™️ are to blame. Can't we all just get along?" Moreover, it is fucking hypocritical of Bill to condemn assassinations, given that he literally praised Israel for the bombs concealed in pagers that eliminated Hezbollah political leaders, and later praised the United States for the assassination of the Ayatollah and other Iranian leaders—going so far as to hope that the Iranian people would rise up against their own authoritarian government. He might as well have said “I love it when leaders of other countries get assassinated, but I draw a red line the moment American leaders are involved! How fucking dare Americans resort to violence!”

Someone might’ve pointed this out already but the escort joke actually MAKES NO SENSE. The reason they stopped the operation was because they realized it was too difficult to get them through the blockade! Only a tiny fraction of boats were successfully escorted, so the “punchline” doesn’t work! Unless they’re talking about how many boats _needed_ escorting, not just the ones that got it?? But in that case, the joke sucks even more!
