I'm not sure if anyone cares, but I figure I should be more transparent with my process rather than just vanishing for long stretches of time...

I write character bios for all the characters in my stories that I can reference to help me with dialogue and portraying consistent but unique personalities, and sometimes the bios can get very detailed and long. I can be unnecessarily indecisive and nit-picky with my own work, and it's very common for me to rewrite those bios or whole story chapters multiple times, resulting in extensive delays as I try to make things more "perfect." I feel it makes for better results in the long run, but it does definitely slow me down, which is something I'm trying to improve upon.

Anyway, I'm intending for the characters featured in the Little Stories series to be recurring, and I've really been wanting to make them perfect so that I don't write myself into a corner down the road, and I recently decided to revisit one of the characters (Jasmine). Unfortunately I took a long time writing aspects of her personality / appearance, then rewriting them only recently, and that slowed down the release my last chapter.

I don't expect any of that to make the delays more bearable, but I figured I at least owed you all an explanation for what I've been working on. Hopefully the wait was worth it: I'm much happier with the chapter as it's written now than what I would have released a week ago, and I feel more confident moving forward. Anyway, I hope you guys like it! The third chapter is posted here, and more is yet to come (I'm thinking about doing art for each of the girls, if people are interested).

TLDR I'm a slow bastard, I know, I'm trying to do better :) thank you everyone for your patience, you guys are the best.

I think it's cool that you're trying to stay on top of shit and make your work be consistent, sometimes it takes some time to get the groundwork right for that. Also, it would be cool to see art of each of the girls, that'd be neat. Heck, maybe even the dude character if he's going to be a consistent cast member.

John definitely will be recurring. Polls showed a pretty widely preference that stories focus on one protagonist, with potentially other tinies occasionally involved, rather than lots of random tiny people. So I'm hoping to make him the "main guy" in a lot of stories, though I'll still bring in friends of his or bystanders for collateral crushing by Amy and her clumsy friends.

Oh, think you might have other male characters return, like that dude who was dating that gal who was dressing for the party, or that guy who was an actor in a commercial? There's something kinda neat about seeing different recurring characters.

James + Suzy (the bf / gf) are likely not returning. I wrote them when I was still sort of exploring the "Tiny World" setting, and just didn't have any specific characters planned yet, but now I have plenty that I'm happy with and would generally prefer to stick to. Will + Alice (the actors) will DEFINITELY be recurring, they are one of my personal favorite duos so far, and I have plenty of storylines planned for them. John and Will might even know each other or be friends. I've also got one more planned duo, who I am writing a story for: a cheery tiny man and his snarky but loving (and very thick, very punk/goth) girlfriend. I was halfway through a story for them before I stalled and shifted gears, but they will definitely appear someday.

I figured the first two would probably not be returning, but figured I'd ask. Glad the actors are returning though, I really liked the dynamic they had going on. The idea of it being a small world (heh) and the guy characters knowing each other and being on good terms is also a fun one. Also, I *really* like the idea for your upcoming duo. Something about opposites attracting is just always so fun on paper, and I look forward to seeing how those two interact eventually.

Cool! Glad you think they sound like a fun duo, I think so too but I try not to work on too many stories simultaneously (I already do that too much). They are very much "opposites attract" though, that's a good summary of their dynamic.

It definitely does make it more bearable to know a bit about your process. IMO delays are pretty much always better than rushing just to get crap out the door.
