god i love that for her. Eat your heart out merry ALL your kids are queer as in fuck you

Doglover502

Boy I can’t wait to see that day I wonder, cause I saw your comment to someone else that she’s curious but needs someone that’s actually patient enough to answer her questions, if that would possible end up being Toffee? Plus we’ve seen a lot of Honey and Topher’s relationship, but not much of those 2 together

lopoddity

Toffee is key! I’ll be digging into him more, as well as his relationship with Honey. One of the reasons he’s so patient with his little sister is because he used to be just like her. He feels it is his DUTY to steer her in the right direction, no matter how frustrating she can be at times. He feels a tonnnn of guilt for not being there for Honey growing up.

mirarevias

Ahhh I love that for her, unburdened by her parent's expectations and living her life in her fullest truth. In all her glory to wear her clothes and fur the way she wants! I love this for her. It's a great feeling.

Nette Marie

I'm honestly kinda glad. She deserves to be happy.

Emily Lemur

Offscreen, the Pawberry sisters are proud… and Skye owes Summer $50.

Angsty Ram

Absolutely love this, she looks quite like Toffee and that’s just so sweet Also adore the little pink on her stomach

Alex

I’d be curious to see whether her parents disown her too

Must Love Frogs

I was concerned she would be that one character who would never be happy. Glad to be wrong!

Lammergayier

And Merry will die miserable and alone <3 (manifesting) Also, interesting to see Butch Honey! Honestly, not the direction I would have expected her to grow in, but I love to see it! Does she still enjoy baking and her other more "traditionally feminine" hobbies? Or does she move away from those as she fully accepts herself and casts off her parents' influences?

Kenzie Leong

You love to see it! Is Victoria still involved in Honey's story? Because if so I'd love to see her get to come along on this journey of radical self love and acceptance.

Royce and Royce

I’m so glad to see she can grow and learn to embrace who she truly is ;;

Tibbles Yorkie789

Confirmed: leftism produces bigger titties and height. Also I like to believe that Honey’s final push into deprogramming is knowing that she’s have a better chance at being with any woman who hates her. Summer. Skye. At least half of a pride parade.

knickknacks

Oh man this is so wonderful to see- I've really really loved how you're developing Honey, and it's so lovely to see a glimpse into the future! the end of a long long path of growth and learning (and unlearning) for her and she is so much happier for it <3

Violetattack

ouughhh,,,,, remembering honey's puppy crush on Jude and then seeing her get to become the butch dyke of her dreams,,,,, no one touch me I'm feeling things ;^; . I need to see this dog become deprogrammed and loved authentically IMMEDIATELY bc relaxed butch honey is doing something 2 my brain

QuietZen

Look at that wild, unrestrained lesbian. She looks so happy 😊

Violetattack

I'm also kind of going crazy at the implication honey can grow out a mustache and chooses not to,,,, I know everyone says she looks like Toffee (which is true and also melting my heart) but AUGH she looks like Topher too and that's so fucking sweet ;O; . lop u can't do this to me

lopoddity

Yep! They start off kinda bad for each other but do end up becoming actual friends

lopoddity

I just goofed up drawing her proportions, I didn't realize I'd drawn her legs so long! 😭 But her boobs are bigger cuz she's undergone at least one pregnancy. Honey could've found a disingenuous grifter right-wing lesbian like herself to settle down with, but she wouldn't have been happy, and she'll learn this herself. She wants to be with someone full of warmth, humor, and kindness, so she did indeed have to adopt these qualities herself.

Gleeman and Artist

Ahhhh I'm so happy for her! Tbh I could never hate honey cause I used to be just like her. Even after I left the church it took a lot of work and therapy before I felt better but I'm happier than I've ever been. I'm glad honey got outta that too

lopoddity

She lives in a camper van and drives all over the country. Lending a platform to the marginalized, supplying aid to people in need, protesting injustice...and meeting queer people all over the nation, listening to their stories, and making new friends. Seeing the world, drinking in history, ever expanding that tiny little worldview her parents pressured her into adopting. She's unrestrained and completely free~

Gleeman and Artist

Oh forgot to mention that I love that she has stomach rolls too!

lopoddity

In my entire cast, there's only a tiny handful of people who can never be happy. It is important for me to have those stubborn curmudgeonly bigots that dig in their heels and divorce their children and reality and die miserable and alone, because that's just an unfortunate part of life. But I try to write everybody with a morsel of humanity, and at the very least the capacity to change. They just have to want to (and that's the tricky part).

Angsty Ram

Idk why but I can imagine her camper van is painted with sunflowers and she takes a piece of wherever she goes so she can remember the times there, it’s just the vibe she gives and I love it for her

lopoddity

Yes. :/ While Honey does eventually come to see her father for what he truly is, she can't bring herself to hate him. She still loves him and makes bids to connect with him, sending him photos and trinkets and letters indicating when she'll be in the neighborhood for the holidays. Merry is entirely repulsed by her and her lifestyle, and keeps her letters unread inside his work desk. Merry remains a popular worship leader until the end, giving counsel to many of his church's families and wayward children, while gritting his teeth and trying not glance at the photos of his own children on the mantle. Merry prays often that his children will see the light and renounce their lives of sin. He holds a lot of contempt and anger at this version of Honey, who he feels stole his perfect daughter away.

lopoddity

Merry does. Maple and Honey are semi-estranged. They exchange a shallow letter or postcard on occasion, but for the most part they don't talk. Honey is very confrontational about the problems in their relationship, while Maple would rather pretend everything is fine, so they've found it's best to never be in a room together.

I saw a saying the other day called “looking for oranges at the hardware store”, meaning a lot of people with shitty parents still search for empathy or validation or kindness from parents who are wholly incapable of ever providing those things. And it’s a fruitless (haha) attempt to look for oranges at that hardware store, but I and many other people and probably Honey still do sometimes. Because what if one time they do, for some reason, have oranges? But luckily Honey can get that from her supportive brothers when she’s happy in the future.

Shaylin A.

Omg. Did she and her wife get a donor? Or did she choose to be a single mom and do it by herself? Lowkey I can see Honey not finding a partner easily and deciding to be a mom anyway. She’d be good at it, when she’s happy.

Mastodon

aw, good for her! i love Honey going from an ultra-feminine good girl to a scruffy butch lesbian, that must have been quite a journey for her!

lopoddity

From her brothers, from Bob and Kathy, from Mal, from Eleanor. :3 And from her wife!

lopoddity

Honey does marry, but she's not a mom. She's a surrogate! :3 She carried a baby or two for queer couples that wanted one. Honey doesn't want children for herself, and that's something she had to confront when she started breaking down the perfect godly girl persona she'd built around herself. She is however a verrrry loving, involved auntie to Topher and Mal's kid.

Tibbles Yorkie789

This is everything I ever wanted thank you, i wish for kisses on all of her (good) families heads.

FaeMoona

I'M GONNA CRY LETS GO HONEY

Chubi Cat

I’m actually crying, I always loved Honey and always wanted her to be better. As someone who was once like her and is now a loud and proud queer it warms my heart seeing her like this. Plus reading all your comments just 💕💕💕 I love all the Meadowsweet kids actually cause I see myself in all of them. Please continue to feed us and maybe we can see all of them older and happy in a big ol family portrait

gamigami

honey being a surrogate for queer couples is incredible and raw and awesome and epic and everything ever. it's always been a dream of mine to surrogate for queer couples but im like very weak and tiny so i dont think it'll ever happen... carry the torch for me, Honey Meadowsweet....

Tibbles Yorkie789

…may I be allowed to make a Topher and Mal fan design? 👁️👁️

Hazelskyes

I wonder how Future Honey would react to meeting her past self! 😆

Corinne Stephenson

Carrying all the fucks around on your shoulders stunts your growth

Jay Martinez

I’m so glad she gets redeemed in the end 🥺 she’s an asshat but we love her anyways. But ALSO, we need to see older honey with her brothers!!

D

This kinda punched me in the heart ,

Dean

Okay this is a complete shot in the dark but you mentioned Honey would be a surrogate for queer couples in the future- pair that with Snickerdoodle's vaguely familiar looking color palette and spottiness (and the fact that adoption agencies usually do not let people with records adopt at all) is that where little lady came from? :0

lopoddity

Interesting connection! 🤩 I definitely did not originally plan that, but it kinda makes sense, doesn't it? My notes for Snickerdoodle's origin are that Perry and Tibbs have so much trouble trying to go through adoption agencies that they nearly give up- until Toffee connects them to a member of his church, a young pregnant woman seeking to give her baby to a good home. Could just slot Honey in there and only need to change a few details, hmm. Definitely food for thought!

knickknacks

freeze frame, rewind. coming back to this. will we find out who Honey's wife is anytime in the planned future, or is that a tidbit you're going to wait to surprise us with? so extremely curious

lopoddity

Oh yeah, definitely. Only reason I'm keeping it secret is because I need to dig deeper into various characters and their storylines first. Better for Honey's future to feel like a big character payoff than for me to just go "oh yeah btw she marries X". I need to lay more groundwork first! >:O This drawing was just meant as a teaser!

Cerulean

Really interested in seeing who Honey hooks up with 👀 I currently feel it could be: Jude, Summer or maybe someone we haven't met yet

blackjack .

what if butch dyke honey lived in my head rent free. what then. she is everything to me

lopoddity

What if I told you that as Honey becomes less of a little conservative dick-waffle, she inexplicably gets really popular with the ladies. She is NOT prepared for how down bad her fellow lesbians are for her golly gee bakesale goofball ass

Corinne Stephenson

She's also not prepared for when her lemon bars FINALLY don't go to waste

mirarevias

Random thought I was having while going back through the Honey tag, after the metaphorical switch flips for her, so to speak, I wonder how her relationship with Skye might change? Also with Summer? Would she still stick to her old habit and penchant of being a pedantic thorn in Skye's side, or would they maybe become unexpected friends? Could they settle their differences more easily than Honey could settle with Maple? I love these arcs you've been exploring lately, they make me feel so warm. I'm gonna go cry about this brb

Fox Lover

You probably already have a plan for Honey’s gradual change into a better happier more progressive dog but it could be interesting if she got pregnant thanks to one of those dates her Maple kept trying to put her on, she freaks out, realizes she doesn’t want this life, doesn’t want to be a mother but is also pro-life so she’s feel like abortions not on the table, and she feels trapped, like she can’t face her parents, and so she runs to Toffee who reassures her and tells her there is a good home for her baby to go to if needed, and lets her stay with him for the time being where she gets introduced to a new lifestyle and begins to unpack her belief system. I don’t know, probably wouldn’t work but it would be a really really nice parallel to Maple

lopoddity

Wellllll Honey is very headstrong and VERY gay. I just can't see her sleeping with a man. Honey gradually changes from pro-life to pro-choice as she ages, but I'm very certain that if Honey ever found herself with an unwanted pregnancy she would get an abortion no matter what her beliefs were at the time. This is a noted phenomenon with conservative women, typically dubbed "the only moral abortion is my abortion", where they'll secretly terminate their own (or their daughters) unwanted pregnancies, while still seeking to police the choices of other women. The phrase comes from an article by Joyce Arthur, who notes how several of the women picketing an abortion clinic had had abortions themselves. Conservative women, like many humans, may act hypocritically when it comes to actually upholding the same moral standards they demand of others.. Honey is no different. She would have an abortion and just not tell anyone about it.

lopoddity

Ack sorry I don't mean to poo-poo your idea! It's definitely interesting, and with a different character it could work. I just don't see Honey enduring an entire pregnancy unless it was 100% wanted.

Fox Lover

Yeah, that’s valid! And you’re right, that would make more sense, I just thought it would be an interesting foil to Maple’s arc, but yeah, sorry I don’t mind at all, I just didn’t respond until now because college just started with me so I got busy and forgot to check back
