Shadow looks just like his daddy 🥺

pookaWOODS

AAAWWWWW HA HA TINY SHADOW

acoraxia

Pour one out for poor daddy Saint and his sleepless nights 😔

Morghann Patterson

Baby Shadow looks just like his daddy! What was their relationship like when he was alive?

lopoddity

Strawberry is back home btw, curled up asleep with the other pups. Shadow's constant wailing was threatening to wake up the other babies and start a 5-pup crying feedback loop, so Strawberry told Saint to gtfo and take Shadow on a looooooong soothing walk before she murders everybody in the home and then herself

Morghann Patterson

Also I KNOW puppy teething has to be a nightmare. My dad and step mom got a puppy a few months ago and even though he’s almost a dog teenager he still has so much trouble with his teeth and his big paws he hasn’t Quite grown into yet. Do you think we could see some baby fuzzbutts activity sometime? I feel like everyone’s little growing up quirks as different animals could be fun to explore!

pinkyubus

SHADOW!! i haven’t seen him in a minute! he’s so precious as a pup auuuu 🥹

Scyllarus

Aw, no wonder Shadow was the one cheering for his pa in that wrestling match. It's so cute to see the pups' different relationships with their parents. It's so clear how much love was in that house, especially in comparison to some of the other families we've seen...

lopoddity

Very close! Saint was Shadow's hero growing up, he looked up to his dad and loved him terribly. As the eldest of the litter, adult Shadow has slotted himself into Saint's role, trying to play the part of dutiful leader of the pack (well, really the second-in-command to Strawberry) and attempting (though not often succeeding) to be there for his mom and siblings in place of Saint. In a curious twist, in trying to play his father’s part, Shadow actually represses the parts of himself that are the most like Saint (fun-loving, wild, immature, impulsive, kinda stupid). Where Skye is largely colored by her relationship with her mom, Shadow has daddy issues for daysss

mailebird

Did..did they name him Shadow cause he's always next to his pop (like his shadow) or is this one of those things where you sort of become the name you're given?

lopoddity

The latter, most definitely. Strawberry is a very pragmatic person, and took a no-nonsense approach to the pups names (or she was too tired to be especially creative but shhh). White puppy got named Snowball, blue puppy got named Skye, black puppy got named Shadow, etc. But as a fun little treat, adult Shadow gets to constantly live in his father’s shadow :)

FancylionFarts

World's cutest pup 🥹 I love how he looks soft with the baby chunk

AsTheJayFlies

Part of me wonders what soup and summers deadnames are (mostly wondering if they also fit the appearance-based begins-with-S name scheme) (but as a fellow trans person that idle curiosity is one im content to leave unsatisfied) also GOD THAT LAST SENTENCE. HOW DARE U

MatchaGirl

Yaaay, I wanted to see more of Saint.

Millions of Bees

Baby Shadow is adorable! 🥰 It must have hit Shadow hard after his father passed. How old were the pups when Saint passed?

Robo87

HAND OVER THE PUDDY AND NO ONE GETS HURT

Jewell H

hold babie gently like hamburgor

ummhallelujah

...babie. I wanna learn more about Shadow though. I feel like we've gotten a pretty good idea of at least the basics of the other Shepard pups, so I'm curious about Shadow. What's his relationship like with his siblings? Does he actually want to run Pawberry Acres or does he dream of doing something else?

Syd D.

I have heard my father say "-and if you could shoot me between the eyes, that'd be great" literally word for word at least a dozen times throughout my childhood LMAO. poor Saint.

lopoddity

10-11 years old. Old enough for the loss to be a deeply formative experience for alllll the kiddos

lopoddity

Litter-born babies are smaller on average than single-born babies. It's convenient for the parents, Saint can hold all his babies at once pretty much all the way up til toddler age. Strawberry can cuddle them all in her arms so they can lie warm against her belly while waiting their turn to nurse

lopoddity

I'll be sure to explore Shadow more. ;3 Does he actually want to run Pawberry Acres? Nope. Is he going to anyway? Yup, somebody's gotta :/ Shadow is a temperamental hedonistic bisexual horndog, and that doesn't line up well with the expectation that he'll be the one to take over the farm, find a good dutiful wife, and have pups of his own soon. But Shadow is nothing if not loyal to his family and the farm. It doesn't bother him to set aside his dreams to make his mama happy, or at least to make her less sad. Or so he claims...

lopoddity

My dad used to hold my baby brother like this, and I always thought it was because he was too insistent on looking manly to cradle a baby the usual way. But actually this is a legit hold that helps soothe colicky babies and relieve their gas. Shadow has successfully been soothed to sleep, but he WILL wake up and start crying the SECOND Saint tries to put him down. Parenting is fun

PrairieGhosted

😭 🥺 waahh this is so cute... of course Shadow idolized his dad w these early baby memories of him scooping him up and rescuing him when he felt lousy... I love seeing the different dynamics between Saint and his kids... did any of the other siblings feel jealous of their closeness ? Or was Saint able to thread the needle and have robust relationships w each of them? I can imagine between farmwork and trucking he had to make a lot of hang out time w the kids be multitasking work. Shadow being a bi hedonist disaster and being insecure about it despite him truly being in Saints image on that one too....oh the Pawberry Angst...

Morghann Patterson

I have a feeling I know what we’re gonna get for Father’s Day…..

lopoddity

Saint and Strawberry had great relationships with all their kids. They were indeed very busy running a farm, so the kids got roped into chores and farmwork and errands and repairs. They made time for fun stuff like lake trips and visit to the library, but most of their bonding was stuff like Strawberry teaching Soup how to harvest honey from their bee colonies without getting stung, or Saint replacing his truck’s brake pads while Skye torments him with popsicle stick jokes. They didn't have favorites, but Saint was closer with Shadow and Soup, while Strawberry was closer with Summer and Snowball. Skye meanwhile was split down the middle and had a lot of hero worship for both of her parents.

DamnitDinkles

My husband when our twins were waking up up ever 2 hours as newborns. I related.

lopoddity

The sheer volume of dilfs I want to draw at any given moment could fill one big ass book. Unfortunately I work a full-time day job, which means my available time/motivation to draw is kinda unpredictable. :( I can't promise I'll be able to make something for father's day, but hey, also can't say that I won't~

Morghann Patterson

I am taking you by the psychic hand- if you do not provide, I promise your fanbase will.

Jewell H

Huh, I had no idea. I always wondered why I'd see some parents holding their baby like that. Learn something new every day!

Oscuraz

Oh my god Strawberry 😭

WAr

Okay this new picture of strawberry has me pondering. Dogs only have two boobs in this universe, right? Do they perhaps just create more milk to adjust for litters (ik they’re rare but I imagine they’d be more common than human quintuples?) Theory two is that strawberry has secret hidden boobs to feed her litter (/j)

mailebird

Strawberry oh my God.

PrairieGhosted

Whatever the answer is canonically I Know in my Heart Saint would be supportive of more StrawBerries 🙏😔 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓

lopoddity

Our fuzzfolk are humanoid, which means they only have two boobs. Like all mammals, they produce milk in accordance with demand. The more babies, the greater the milk supply. If I were being realistic, Strawberry would have like four other extra nipples on her belly, normally hidden by fur but visible when nursing. But nah, she’s just got the two, meaning feeding time (most new babies eat every 2 hours) was suuuuuuper fun for her. Juggling a bunch of wailing babies, trying to make sure every pup gets a turn, and it only got worse as they got bigger and grew sharp little puppy teeth. Strawberry loved the closeness of nursing (at first) but later had to switch to pumping milk/using formula for her own sanity

Kara Chaney

We love the Pawberry parents!! Methinks Soup got their heterochromia from their Dad?

pinkyubus

i just saw the added strawberry doodle 💀 lord have mercy on her soul

Mastodon

me refreshing this page to see that Saint's eyes are slightly redder, like he's aging in real time -> :0 (sorry saint i'll close this tab and let you get to bed soon)

Mastodon

STRAWBERRY TOO... POOR THING... i can feel how crunchy that headfur is through my screen <:(

Corinne Stephenson

The absolute ear-shattering cackle I released upon seeing Strawberry. My best friend just had her first baby and the resemblance is uncanny 😂

Robo87

“Strawberry is fine” Strawberry has been dead for 3 business days

lopoddity

Saint, shaking her wildly: Baby doll! Strawberry, no!! No!! Take me with you!!!!!! 😭

PrairieGhosted

Gosh I'm so curious abt all the Pawberry siblings and how they processed Saints death & the shift in that family dynamic adjusting to keeping the farm afloat without him...I know that is def a Whole Thing w Shadow & Skye & Strawberry ofc but I do always love learning more abt the lives of each of the siblings :^3 excited for if we get to see more about Snowball and Summer down the line! ty for answering my questions!

lopoddity

When my best friend had her baby, I stayed with her for a bit, and wowwwww are babies a LOT. Like I'd already known parenting was tough, but I didn't know babies disrupt your sleep eeeeevery 1 to 2 hours for milk/a changing/comfort/just because. The moment you nod off, they're waking you up again, and god forbid the baby has colic because they'll have 3 hour long crying fits that CANNOT be soothed. Sleep deprivation is an actual torture technique, and a sleep-deprived person is cognitively impaired on a similar level to a drunk person. It's madness. 😵‍💫Not to mention waking up to screaming and crying is ridiculously stressful, you'll start hearing phantom crying when you DO get a chance to sleep. I've seen new parents- otherwise perfectly functional, well-adjusted adults- burst into tears holding their crying baby. Curl up into a ball and weep. Pass out on the floor, fall asleep on the toilet. And that was with just one baby. Saint and Strawberry have FIVE. They'll be okay....eventually.....but for now, they're fucked lmao

Must Love Frogs

My sister had colic. I don't remember, because I was 3 and just vibin' on snacks and Sesame Street. My parents, however, were beside themselves. What a berserk form of torture for nature to inflict on people who reproduce.

Robo87

“Don’t leave me alone with them!!!!!”

Lammergayier

The teeny little paws on the pups are going to make me pass away this is SO cute. RIP to Saint and Strawberry tho LMAO. I could never be a parent I think I'd actually snap

PD19

Best part, give them 20 years they'll say they wouldn't change a thing

lopoddity

Strawberry, grumbling: You needy little bastards better be worth all this 😠 Snowball: *hiccups* Strawberry: *soft gasp* Did my lil buttermilk biscuit boy eat too fast? 🩷 *kiss kiss* You hafta pace yourself, marshmallow fluff 🩷 *kiss kiss kiss* mama wouldn't want you to get a tummyache *kiss kissy kiss* 🩷silly baby boy~

Corinne Stephenson

Snowball: I literally have no idea what you're saying

Corinne Stephenson

Speaking of that: how early did they realize Snowball was deaf? Was it immediate or did some time have to pass before Saint and Strawberry were like "... Hold up, something is off here"

lopoddity

Snowy wouldn't know what she was saying even if he could hear. He's a baby, basically a slightly more mobile potato at this stage of his life. :3 Irl babies typically have their hearing tested right after birth. Strawberry however did not give birth in a hospital, she had a home birth with no medical assistance. Strawberry was a little old-fashioned, a little stubborn, and fiercely independent-and didn't think she "needed" a doctor poking and prodding at her and her pups. The pups are born and they're a perfectly healthy, lively litter. Strawberry is very proud, very vindicated. Over time, however, she and Saint notice Snowball is...not responding to sound the way his siblings do. Doesn't flick his ears when Strawberry speaks. Can keep sleeping peacefully even with a littermate wailing right next to him. At around a month old, the pups are brought in for their first doctor's visit, and Snowy is found to be completely deaf in both ears. Strawberry takes it very hard. She blames herself, views Snowball's deafness as both a massive disability and a personal failing on her end. If she hadn't been so headstrong, it might’ve been caught sooner... She spends a couple days feeling sorry for herself and her poor Snowy....and then, in typical Strawberry fashion, sucks it up and decides to DO something about it. She and Saint start reading, meeting with doctors, speaking with members of the Deaf community. It is these experiences that prepare her to be more accomodating with ALL of her children. But especially Snowball. She knows, logically, that deafness isn't necessarily a disability, but she can't help having a weak spot as far as her second-youngest pup is concerned. Strawberry spends a lot of time cuddling Snowy, holding him close so he can feel the vibration of her words, letting him feel her lips moving with his tiny hands. Snowball is a baby and still needs lots of parental interaction and mama kisses. Snowball undergoes quite a lot of therapy, and of course Strawberry and Saint learn sign language and teach it to all the pups. I'm unsure yet whether Snow has a cochlear implant...even if he does, it's not the miracle fix Strawberry hoped it would be (it would take many many years for Snowball to learn how to process the sounds he hears), but it's no big deal to Snowball. He doesn't view his life as a tragedy, and he had a very happy childhood. Snow can sign, has some limited lip-reading ability, and with the help of years of therapy he can speak, though he prefers to sign. He's also a solid drummer and slots nicely into his very musical family. As an adult he's still close with Strawberry, and her hardened stoic outer shell still falters a little around her baby boy (nevermind that he's the biggest and strongest member of the family).
