Goddammit, Don. You could have had it all, but you had to be a coward. I like to imagine an AU where they end up together. They go on a lot of cruises and act absolutely trashy the whole time, drinking too much and getting a lil too PG 13 in the pool (when you can both hold your breath for many minutes, any body of water is a privacy screen...)

YELLS I had typed a response like, "Oh I wonder if Don would have gotten with Eva if Merry wasn't in the picture but probably not b/c he seems like the kind of guy to be self-conscious and a sycophant so maybe he'd just find a different toxic dude to be bffs with" BUT NOW I'M SHAKING THIS STUPID SEAL MAN *AND* THIS STUPID DOG MAN Like damn. It's not as *interesting* a story but I imagine that without the underlying desire to get back at Merry, Don wouldn't likely have been more interested in Toffee than a good uncle should have been. I like the idea that after Merry explodes his family and pushes Toffee onto Don (which...I also have a bunch of thoughts rattling around about other ways things could have gone in their lives), Ellie and the kids move in with Don and Eva for a bit and actually get some accidental therapy instead of extra trauma. I'm enjoying the mental image of Don, Eva, and Ellie in their old age being absolutely wild at Furry Las Vegas and sending Concerning postcards to the kids. Merry being extra bitter and leaning into the hellfire and damnation whenever he sees stuff on Fuzzbook about them. Honey meeting the brothers she's never met but also then meeting the...Definitely-not-criminal family friends she's never met. Idk man something about two sleazeballs in disgustingly happy, loud, public love makes me happy. Like ya'll get to be awful gremlins together and it brings a tear to my eye, everyone should get to have this.

I wouldn't really call it a crush kink, I just wanted to draw a gag where Eva's oblivious to Don’s predicament. Don is in pain here, much like Courage. But Don did (very much) enjoy Eva's body and particularly liked being pinned down and bossed around by her. Much like Merry, Don suffered in trying to conform to patriarchal expectations of a strong, dominant, male partner. In actuality, Don just wants to cook Eva a nice pasta dinner and be mildly bullied by her/smothered by her tits. Ah well.

I know we sort of explore Merry's, uh, less-than-patriarchal desires with the Liv crackship, but more seriously - if Merry got clobbered with the therapy stick as a young(er) man, what would he do/be? Would he just be a chill, happy pastor of a small(er) church? Would he just want to support Ellie in her dreams? Would he be effectively unrecognizable? I love that we get Problematic characters and want them to stay that way, I just want to know what they/we missed

Bit of a ramble, but- I love how you draw fat so much. Like, I know this is a fictional hippo lady that's not real and never will be (I'm fine about it I'm fine I swear I'm fine I'M FINE) but the way you draw her and so many other large characters that you have, is so natural. It'd be almost funny how rare that is with artist that draw large people. How often is a "large character" just a code for a conventionally attractive woman with large but firm breasts, thin waist and then large hips and butt. Or a man that's jacked as shit but has a bit of a tummy and immediately he's labeled as a fat character. You're one of the few artists I have seen that draw fat without having reservations about how conventionally attractive it is. Your fat characters have rolls and dimples, stretch marks and sagging skin, large arms and legs, round faces, thick necks etc etc, I could go further. And all of them look so incredibly natural like that, so beautiful, so human, despite being fictional furry creatures. I also love how they are just treated as. People. They're not food obsessed caricatures or portrayed as lazy or dirty or have a designated role as a comic relief. They really are just people going through life that also just happen to be fat. It's so refreshing to see that

Thank you very much, that means a lot! 🥹🩷 I believe in my heart of hearts that all bodies are beautiful. There's something so divine about studying and drawing the human body, I've never understood why people shy away from things like wrinkles or fat folds or cellulite or body hair- the human form is a work of art! That includes fat bodies, and fat people. 🩷 Don wasn't attracted to Eva "in spite of" her body, he genuinely found her beautiful and sexy. He simply fumbled when he cared too much about what other people thought. 😔
