I actually only just started watching like, last week. :3 I'm glad I did, cuz I got to watch all 8 episodes across a couple days. And in that time, I went from casual fan, to seeking out fanfics, to pre-ordering my ticket to the finale. XD

What do you think of caine? I was a casual enjoyer until 8 dropped, then i became a diehard fan practically overnight, especially once i found a fic series where the author delves deep into his autism coding and the double empathy problem keeping him and the humans from understanding each other. The series is called questions & answers and its 230k words of top tier writing and i can’t recommend it enough if you enjoy caine to any degree

I love Caine! He's VERY high up on my list of favorites, especially after episode 8. I adore the subtle horror of the digital circus, and Caine is a big contributor to that, be it unintentionally or not. Idk if he was deliberately coded as autistic, or if a digital AI CAN be considered autistic- at least in the human sense of the word- but as an autistic person myself, I certainly find him deeply relatable. So thanks for the fic recommendation! 🩷 I'll be sure to check it out. :) If you're a fan of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, I really recommend the TADC fic We have no mouths. Let's scream in delight. In it, AM, the hateful war AI from the novel somehow manages to transport itself into the digital circus, where it meets Caine. And Caine, being Caine, creates in an instant what AM has longed for for billions of years...a body. Granted the ability to touch, taste, smell, hear, see, and create, AM proceeds to...slowly unlearn its murderous programming and befriend Caine, and eventually, even the humans within the circus. It's not quite Caine-centric, but he is very important, and I really enjoyed seeing how jolly oblivious Caine- who is programmed to adore and entertain humans- interacts with AM, an AI programmed to slaughter and subjugate humans on a mass scale. It's surprisingly cute!

Oh but I do. >:3 I saw the finale in theaters 2 weeks ago. And if I may, as a genderqueer person myself, I found Goose's handling of Jax to be about as subtle as a baseball bat, even before episode 9. "Misunderstood little chicken fetus in an egg, waiting to be cracked open." Jax's irritation (jealousy?) at Zooble's ability to change their body at will. His aggressive, somewhat desperate insistance on performing masculinity, and defensive anger when his is called into question. His reaction to the maid dress. "Evil" Jax feeling like a softer version of Jax he's afraid to be, to the point he attacks him. Jax's bedroom being the colors of the trans flag. Him saying "ladies first" to Gangle, then tripping her so he could be first. The driving scene that implied real-world Jax ran away from home. His refusal to wear a bathing suit in the beach episode. His refusal to let anyone ever get too close to him. The whole torture scene where his skin was peeled off, revealing a suspiciously yellow, yolk-like version of himself- plus the way his immediate reaction is to cover his nude chest and crotch. Like, as a person with boobs, I KNOW that move to reflexively cover up one's chest when unexpectedly exposed. Honestly, even before the finale, I was wondering if maybe he'd hurt Ribbit in a way related to his/her gender identity, and thus felt too guilty over his/her actions to live authentically. 🤔
