Brainstorming: Species Help (Patreon)

Howdy all! I’ve got a Fuzzbutts character coming up that’s an outspoken conspiracy theorist. What do y’all think her species should be? I’m imagining a more unusual, perhaps obscure sort of animal, maybe one with wide googley eyes. Of course, I’ll be considering all suggestions. :3 What kind of animal would you pick for a kooky conspiracy nut?

When you say googly eyes, my first thought is another lemur, called a tarsier. There's also chameleons, or for something extra off putting, an aye-aye or a slow loris? Or maybe geckos (specifically a leaf-tailed one)?

*Slaps cork board with red yarn and papers on it* Hear me out. Some desert dwelling animal. Like ones native to the ecosystems around New Mexico and Nevada. Like the New Mexico Whiptail, they are an all female species. Or a very odd looking species of reptile.

-I mean aye aye just look like nature's version of the people you avoid eye contact with at the gas station. They're my first thought for "crazy" animals lol -lowland streaked tenrec. They actually have very small eyes but their yellow coloring and mixed quills and fur give them a "I just spent 16 hours watching YouTube" vibes

my very first thought was a squirrel; they can see all with their small form and climbing abilities- and dig up the truth when scouring for nuts! I also like the idea of a platypus or an aardvark in a similar digging vain- ones you don't think often of when you think of digging something up, and kinda "strange" looking

potto and aye-ayes are both good suggestions. also tarsiers look incredibly unhinged. unless you wanted something other than a mammal character, in which case leaf-tailed geckos look unhinged as well :]

Okay eyes wise this is the opposite of what you suggested but you should check out the Tibetan Fox those guys are fun. But like others have said, potoos would be good, and i love the idea of a gerenuk. However! I am very biased. I'd love you to have a lil character that was a rat, they're my favorite animal :)

Ooh, so many ideas! In terms of wide googly eyes, there's always the slow loris, the tarsier, lemur, owl, and tree frog! It might be funny for the eyes to have "creepy" other qualities too, along the lines of "seeing everything"; for example, Owl might be fun because big eyes + can turn head 180° = you can never escape their gaze. Chameleon might be good for the same reason (eyes in the back of their head style). Added points because with their camouflage, no one knows if these conspiracy theories are actually all "real" secrets the character has learned from blending in to surroundings and hearing conversations they maybe shouldn't. Tree frog.... Nice big eyes, and honestly very meme-able if you want to make them look moderately unhinged >:3

I love the pootoo idea for your visual idea. But I also love the idea of using an animal that in and of itself is unusual/conspiracy-y? A few people mentioned platypus and I love that because at first people who didn’t see living ones thought it was a hoax (granted I doubt that kind of thing happens in the FB world). That or something rare/thought to be extinct maybe? I know you’ve got a thylacine character so many another one like that? I’m excited to see this character when they debut regardless of what they end up being! :D
