I wanted to spotlight how more of the characters sleep, but I've got work tomorrow. For now, have some tidbits about roommates Sunny and Bruce, and how beds work in FB. :3

The average citizen in Fuzzbutts is small to medium size (eg. dogs, cats, frogs, bats), with larger animals (eg. bears, elephants, crocodiles) being outliers. For this reason, there's not much point in the average critter owning a large, human-sized bed. In fact, large, open sleeping spaces make many critters instinctively feel uncomfortable and unsafe. The average bed in FB is juuuust big enough to contain the person sleeping within, with larger models being available for couples or nesting parents with young children.

Sunny's bed is on the larger side, as Skye sleeps over a lot ("Skye....what if we kissed....on my melon bed? >:3"). Bruce comparatively has no sleeping space to accommodate a lover or guest, which is exactly how he likes it. It keeps his pain-in-the-ass big brother from trying to sleep over ("I can't even fit me head in your bed, Bruno!"). It does not, however, keep his idiot roommate from bothering him whenever there's a spooky thunderstorm at night- Sunny just insists they co-sleep in Sunny's bed, he's known to even pick up Bruce's entire den-cubby and place it on his melon bed.

I just love this. You put so much thought into this world, you could have them live like people like we see in a lot of media with anthro characters but you take everything you can that makes them animals and translate it into beautiful world building. I love every little detail, these beds are so cute and they make me smile.

Alright, the idea of Bruce pouting (but not actually fighting it) as Sunny clumsily places his den-cubby on his own bed fills me with immense joy.

Me, feral: I would unironically love to sleep in a cozy den bed

Ooohhhh this is too cute, but also super interesting! Something I'd never even think about, but it all slots perfectly into Fuzzbutts. I'd love to see more characters' sleeping spots, Cupcake, Penny, Isla, Virgil and Mimi I think would all be really neat!

Omg so cuuuute, picking up Brucie's entire den 😭😭😭 I need to know more. Does Priscilla need 150 blankets in winter? A co-sleeping buddy? Did she cuddle with her pops until she moved out of home? Does penny sleep in a mini treehouse???? I must know

FancylionFarts

Those beds look so cozy 🥲 and inviting. Makes me lament my lack of ability to sleep right now

Hah! My dog likes her little den under the bed! Little weirdo, I'm guessing aquatic animals like Capybaras, hippos, and the like have tanks of water in their homes? And do architects and construction companies make homes with certain species in mind or do they generally have a "one size fits all" policy?

Melody Williamson

Since fb characters are bipedal would they have back problems like humans? I wonder if some older characters will need firmer beds.

Rest assured that Sunny has absolutely tried to go inside Bruce's cubby and done that stupid sad dog aheem-heem whimper when he realized he was too big- and also cuz Brucie bit him :(

I'm sad I didn't have enough time last night to get to Penny, she was originally included with the boys here. Priscilla wears long johns under thick pajamas in the wintertime, and probably keeps extra blankets and a space heater on standby. She and her dad much prefer to cuddle up to her mom when they're cold, Shari is a giant heat furnace of a lioness with actual soft fur to snuggle into and big paws for holding. Pris is up next for illustrated notes on character beds/sleeping situations.

Thank you so much! :D It occurred to me yesterday- hey people really seemed to like it when I did illustrated worldbuilding notes for MLP, so what if I did the same for FB? I'm glad you like it!

Housing across the animal kingdom remains a huge problem in FB, and is part of the reason that animals tend to try to only date their own species, or a close enough match. Bigger animals live in bigger domiciles, and EVERYTHING is bigger. Toilets, bathtubs, beds, kitchen utensils- Priscilla might have trouble lifting one of Cupcake's frying pans. Smaller animals live in small homes, medium sized animals live in medium sized homes. Kind of hard for a raccoon to invite over her moose boyfriend, he might not even fit through her doorway! Neighborhoods are generally built with just one size in mind, without much leeway- so small critters like frogs and mice tend to all live in one neighborhood, while bigger animals like bears and lions and giraffes might live in a megafauna suburb across the city. Urban apartments are a bit more integrated, Penny's boarding house has quite a lot of range when it comes to room sizes and accommodations- with the bigger rooms being on the ground floor, and the small critter apartments being higher up. Yes, aquatic animals tend to have large bathtubs and water features in their homes, though only the truly wealthy can afford to install and maintain these accommodations. Working class aquatic animals have to settle for using public pools and aqua cafes. Katie and Cass share a dorm that is nearly completely underwater- with Katie residing in the cold water below, and Cass sleeping atop a large floating ice floe bed.

I didn't even think of the implications for romantic partners and families with mixed species! Cupcake's parents must have had to bust their ass accommodating their diverse family! Really shows their dedication to being the best! I love worldbuilding tidbits like this! So thanks bro! EDIT: Also damn! Aquatics are getting screwed by this bum deal! Someone oughta protest the pools! Does the government cover the cost so aquatic folk can get there swim on? Or is it all privatized and sucking people dry for necessities?

Your World Bulding abilities are so cool, I am glad that I finally see those works x3

Yes, back problems are common, especially in heavier animals like hippos and elephants. For this reason, larger animals do sleep in "human" beds (a rectangular mattress elevated off the ground), as the hassle of getting up from/lying down on the floor to sleep is just too much strain on their joints. Older characters do indeed prefer firm mattresses. Older characters suffering from joint, hip, and back problems are accommodated the same way we do for our senior pets- lots of medications, supplements, exercise, and physical accomodations like ramps, handrails, and those quirky as-seen-on-tv products, like the tool to help one slip on their socks without needing to bend down.

Maybe? Pet fish are a thing, as they're not sapient. I'm thinking also maybe special breeders in FB might've created several strains of long-lived, semi-sentient insects to be kept as pets. Giant centipedes and poodle moths are popular pets, each with the intelligence of an irl rat, and living about 3 years on average. Not sure if I wanna commit to giant pet bugs just yet, but I'm considering it~

I want that watermelon bed ;3;
