Return of Toffee’s husband! After his debut post y’all were adamant his name be Bob (after Bob the Builder), but it’s actually Robert to you punks! >:( His friends call him Bob. And only Toffee can call him Bobby. ❤️

Beaver Bob may be grumpy, but he’s got a secret playful, shameless side he lets out every now and then, especially when it means flustering ol’ Toff’.

BELOVED BEAVER MAN IS BACK!!

I'm imagining Toffee saying, "Bobby" like Linda Belcher

Everything is YES but especially the PPE gear 👏🤩

Love how a guy already covered in fur still manages to have a happy trail.

lopoddity

listen y’all already know what i’m about by now

I don't actually know a lot about Beavers other than they are angry, hate running water, and love infrastructure. What fun facts bout beavers did Toffee learn the hard way?

lopoddity

Beavers instinctively slap the water with their tails to warn other beavers of danger. If startled, Bob will reflexively tail-slap whatever's next to him. Toffee learned the hard way not to playfully sneak up on Bobby when he's standing by Toff's expensive glass coffee table (even though Bob immediately promised to fix it)

With the weird dynamic between herbivores and carnivores, how is Toff and Bob's relationship viewed?

lopoddity

There's the cute story that Toffee tells- that Bobby was a contractor who did such quality, low-cost repairs around his church that Toff just HAD to start bringing him fresh baked goods every morning, which eventually turned into inviting Bob over for dinner and sharing lunches together under the church's old oak tree- a quiet, sweet courtship spent exchanging homemade food and friendly conversation. Bob was dependable, strong, no-nonsense, and surprisingly sweet, and Toffee fell head over paws before he knew it. Then there's the (true) story that Bob tells, which is that Toff was a kind, somewhat geeky beanpole that Bob liked right away and didn't mind doing discount repairs for. But with Toff being a church leader, he wrote the guy off as innocent and virtuous and thus entirely disinterested in Bob. He offers Toff a ride home one night when they've both spent too long working late at the church. He tries out a little subtle, friendly flirting...and is surprised when sweet, soft-spoken Toff pounces on him right there in his pick-up truck. And then is very flustered and apologetic afterward and brings Bob a basket of muffins the next morning. Toff is so awkward, such a silly clash of predator urges vs a deep need to be good and godly- Bobby finds it all very amusing, very endearing. He tells Toff this, which only flusters him further. But Toffee keeps bringing him food, so Bob begins to do the same, and they keep spending time together long after the church's repairs are finished. According to Bob, however, Toff is fulla shit- their relationship didn't begin with a basket of goddamned muffins. It started with a shared love of wood, and don't let Toff convince ya otherwise! (Cue Toff burying his red face in his hands in the background).

Not great. People mostly react with confusion, sometimes inappropriate questions, sometimes disgust. Toffee's had a rock or two thrown through his church windows, he's been accused of trying to indoctrinate innocent people into going against the natural order. Also, his father Merry has greatly reduced contact with him over it, and likes to remind Toffee that he has disgraced himself by marrying an overgrown rat. Toffee doesn't care. Well, he does care, but he refuses to feel ashamed. Bobby makes him happier than he ever thought he could be. Plus Bob is always around to fix any busted windows, scrub off cruel graffiti, smack away bigots with his big beaver tail, and comfort Toff when he's made to feel bad. Their relationship is known to the congregation and has actually helped expand Toffee's church, as even people who are not religious see it as a safehaven for the poor, the queer, and those in ever-stigmatized pred/prey relationships. Perry, for example, is a friend of the church, sometimes donating and collaborating with Toffee in organizing charity events.

Odd question (totally not inspired by the previous post): how would Robert interact with Saint in a hypothetical scenario? They look like they'd try and outdo each other in flustering their spouses

lopoddity

He does do Linda's giggly "ohhhh Bobby!❤️" (complete with happy hand claps) whenever Bob manages to be charming or thoughtful

marsh_beast

Oh I KNOW all the little old ladies at Toffee’s church were giggling and gossiping about Bob.

lopoddity

They meet and it’s just Bob explaining in his gruff, no-nonsense way that Saint should absolutely fucking not use a hose, kerosene, and a lighter to deal with a hornet’s nest outside. Alternatively- Bob, on the verge of tears: Finally. After years of searching. I thought it might be a legend, or maybe even a myth, but at long last, I've found you. Bob: *tenderly touches Saint's face* Bob, in a hushed tone: ...The ultimate dumbass

Now I'm wondering: Did Toff take his last name when they married? Visa versa? Or did they combine them?

lopoddity

Patriarchal species tend to insist a spouse take on the male’s surname, and matriarchal species pass down the surname of the head grandmother. But plenty of people disregard this, opting to keep their original last names, or hyphenate their surname, or even combine their surname with their spouse’s in a portmanteau. Toffee is attached to his surname and chose to hyphenate it. His full name, title included, is Reverend Dr. Tobias Toffington Willoughby-Meadowsweet, (what a mouthful!). Bob is Robert Willoughby-Meadowsweet, and u better believe old man Merry is ticked that a goddamned RAT is walking around with HIS surname

QuietZen

Oh God, they'd have so much fun with each other....

Lammergayier

Ok ok I know I already commented but I have this really stupid headcannon that Toffee is obsessed with whatever this world's equivalent of Pride and Prejudice is, and insists that he and Robert watch it together every few months. And that Bob pretends not to enjoy it as much as he does but secretly sheds a microscopic tear every time

lopoddity

It's still called Pride and Prejudice, but the whole cast is lions

*SCREAMZ* YAAAASSSSSS I was dying for more beaver bf.
