How can you not give that woman anything she wants. God I love Mal.

Angsty Ram

Oh I do love these two but now I am genuinely trying to figure out what a kid raised by these two would turn out like

nighthawk0913

lopoddity

PrincessMuffinArt

Oooh! Is she falling in love with him or is she just joking? (Also welcome back, Lop! Hope your vacation went well! ^^)

CardstockBroth

Bruh toffee would be an amazing uncle

Gleeman and Artist

Now I want a version of that "i want a baby" meme with your characters lol Skye: I want a baby Sunny: just to hangout with? Bruce: Eat shit. I'm not putting a demon inside you. Strawberry: I want a baby Saint: give me a week. *beat* what color?

Hey, welcome back! I hope your vacation was restful! Mal and Topher are quickly claiming a spot among my top duos of yours. They're just so fun and comfortable with each other! Also, just asking to clarify- is this meant to be perceived as a romantically-coded interaction at all, or just them bein pals? Obviously the two trust and care about each other a great deal, but do they ever fall for each other/become exclusive, or just remain close friends? I'd enjoy their dynamic either way, and you don't have to answer if you haven't decided yourself, but I am a bit curious!

Topher: mine? Mal: yeah, who else's Topher: Aquaman's

Love seeing Toffy and Topher in their healthy, emotionally fulfilling relationships in comparison to the frosted dumpster fire that is their dad and stepmom's marriage. Really does feel like a "best revenge is living well" kind of situation.

Darkhorizonstudios301

Mal would be an amazing mother showering her kids with pancakes🥞

It's like that text compilation joke of "text your bf you want a baby and post his response". I love it.

Murkydepths

Maybe just a joke post but I love childfree Topher. Live your best life dude.

lopoddity

Thanks! :3 She's half-joking, half-serious. Mal isn't quite IN love with Topher, but she does love him. And Topher loves her. They're best friends, roommates, lovers....partners. They've been together for a LONG time, more than a decade. Their bond is the strongest and healthiest relationship in either of their lives, no other romance or relationship has ever held a candle to it. Mal thus thinks it would be kinda beautiful to have and raise a child with her most important person. She's discussed this with Topher before, and in his weaker, softer moments, the idea of it is enough to make him cry. Underneath all that defensive cynicism and bluster, Topher DOES want a family, just not a conventional nuclear suburban one. So Mal is being patient...but also, she ain't getting any younger, haha

lopoddity

Saint had a vasectomy after their first 5 kids, so ur spot on with his dialogue

lopoddity

I do have characters that are happily childfree (Toffee and his husband Bob, for example), but Topher isn't actually being honest when he says he never wants kids. He wants what Mal is suggesting, the thought just terrifies him as much as it (secretly) excites him. Mal would never try and pressure Topher into anything he didn't (really) want.

lopoddity

Thanks! It was. :3 I guess it could be perceived as romantic, but their relationship is meant to be very ambigious. Do they love each other? Yes, very much so, neither have any trouble saying so. Are they IN love? Unclear, and both of them would argue that that question is irrelevant. Their bond is powerful and trusting and doesn't need romance to be so. Mal wants to be a mom, but she doesn't want to settle down with some bore or have a surrogate pop one out for her to raise alone. She enjoys what she's got going with Topher, this very intimate friendship, and she feels they are already a family of two. She would very much like to expand this to a family of three, with a child that is jointly raised and adored by two friends who love and know each other deeply. Topher is touched at his core that she wants this with HIM, the idea makes him rather emotional. But Topher is a damaged and defensive person that is often scared to pursue things he wants. What if they have a kid and it ruins everything? What if he's a bad dad? And the most terrifying thought of all- what if it all works out and he's happier than he's ever been?

Queerplatonic relationships are my JAM. Like loving someone so much you know they are your PERSON but it’s not romantic necessarily but it’s so much more than friendship. It’s your person your family your everything! I know I’m somewhere on the ace spectrum but I go back and forth whether I’m aro as well or sapphic. Being autistic muddles my feelings for people a lot to… So seeing these types of relationships means a lot to me and I wish they were explored and recognized more in media. It’s not just two friends raising a baby- it’s making a family with the person who means more to you and is more to you than any other person and pursuing your own version of love and hapiness and family with them. These two just rocketed to some of my top favorites for your series (Being Sunny and Sky and Virgil for me personally but these two may have just leapt over them) Love these guys so much!!!

lopoddity

She'd make sure to bring her portable mini-griddle to the birth

Honey: I volunteer 🧍‍♀️

The first image I thought of was Topher coming home euphoricly drunk/high/out of his mind and telling Mal to get ready cause he's gonna put a baby in her. The thought made me laugh and woke up my dog 🐕 😂

lopoddity

Topher, kicking door open: Knock KNOCK BITCH get READY cuz TONIGHT imma knock you UP Mal, who does not have a womb: ... Mal: a'ight

marsh_beast

Hey, if these two were to have kids… would they have a litter, like Strawberry and Saint? Or is there some sort of way in the Fuzzbutt-verse to have just one or two kiddos at a time?

lopoddity

Litters are actually kinda uncommon in FB, and becoming more uncommon the more society advances. Far more likely they’d just have one kid, though a litter is a possibility that can never be entirely ruled out

Rumpeltyltskyn

All of them are obviously great options but they are both such beautiful characters I’d love to see a bio baby for them

Murkydepths

Oh I see. I hope Mal isn't suggesting Topher should get pregnant. Bad enough when people who can't get pregnant casually request someone else get pregnant, when it's a huge toll on the person who gets pregnant and never taken seriously enough. With complications of dysphoria on top it's even worse.

lopoddity

Yes, as a childfree person, I'm very familiar with those sorts of comments. Fortunately, that isn't what Mal is saying. She does not say "Topher, let's make a baby" or "Topher, I want you to have my baby." She says exactly what she means- "Topher, I want a baby." Keyword is "I". Mal is expressing HER want to have a child. The unsaid implication is, of course, "And I would like you to be a part of this". Mal is an adult and values Topher's comfort and consent. She is leaving it open as to what Topher's role in this will be. Does he want to get pregnant? Does he want to adopt a child with her? Does he want to help her locate a surrogate? Or, alternatively, does he not wish to have a parenting role with her at all? All options are on the table, including refusal. Topher's response is an evasion, the topic makes him uncomfortable. Both characters are keeping things light in this scene, feeling each other out in a half-serious, half-joking way. But they will need to have a deeper conversation about it eventually, and I am planning on drawing this. (To reiterate, Topher is not against becoming a parent with Mal, in fact it is something he secretly wants. But he needs to do some processing first. Neither character is about to rush into a decision without a lot of thought and discussion.)

Marta Tarasiuk

The idea of Topher being a parent scares me.

Bluerock66

If they go through with it, I can't wait to see how Honey will react to her brother being pregnant.

Res Hound

They could adopt!
