We are now THREE WEEKS into Lilliputian Living Year 8—Milestones and Festivities. Although the month is almost over, I'm not almost done. I've decided to extend this year's Lilli Living so that I can include more festivities since so much of the month has been dedicated to exploring milestones. The above is the contact sheet for the book- Joseph's been hard at work laying it out, and even though I'm adding more days to Volume 8, we're still on track for our November release date! I also received two reader blurbs from folks who wanted a sneak peek at Les Petits Plaisirs de la Vie and requested the eARC! These blurbs are a HUGE help in inspiring people to try the book! If you'd like an early look at the in-progress Les Petits Plaisirs de la Vie and would not mind submitting a short snippet of your thoughts to be used to help sell the book, you can reach out to me on Discord or via email for a digital advanced reader copy. I want to clarify- we are not currently looking for an editor, copy editor, or any other advanced aid- just a little blurb from people who have read and enjoyed the book! If you've been following Lilliputian Living on social media for the past years, you've basically read an advanced (and rough) copy of Les Petits Plaisirs de la Vie.

Playing with Acrylic Markers

I don't really consider myself an acrylic painter- in the distant past, my experiences with acrylics were pretty fraught. That said, I do like painting on THINGS, and acrylics tend to be great for that. I've tried painting on boots and on flower pots, and since playing around with acrylic markers, on metal faux Stanley mugs and pill cases, on plastic tumblers and tote bags.

I'm working on wrapping up my video on Arrtx's Simptap acrylic markers- these have a back pump action and a brush tip.

These are a lot of fun in a watercolor sketchbook

I found it easier to draw and paint on cylindrical objects with these than with the Arrtx bullet tipped markers or the Ohuhu Kakaako Double sided acrylic markers

And these are a lot of fun on tote bags, but unprimed canvas drained these markers.

While I had a lot of fun painting this tote bag, handpainting, even with markers, can be really labor intensive! I recently placed an order with Canvastry and was pretty pleased with the results:

I need to get these up in my shop soon!

I have a video about my experience using Canvastry to manufacture products coming up, in case any of yall are interested. I realize a lot of this manufacturing can be done at home these days with the right printer and a cricket and a LOT of labor, but let's be real- I have a cat and Sjogrens, the amount of damaged or unsellable product I'd end up with makes it far easier to just go with a decently priced manufacturer.

Otherwise, things have been pretty quiet down here. I've been teaching a homeschool group on Thursdays. Although I have public school teaching experience as young as middle school, and have taught even younger groups of kids who are intensely interested in art and have parents who have made sure they have access to consistent art education, I'm struggling to help a group of kids who haven't gotten even the absolute basics and don't have internet access. If any of yall know of any good early edu books on art education and strategies for ways to teach art concepts simply and quickly, please feel free to recommend them! I'm always looking to fix gaps in my teaching skillset.
