Sakura SumoGrip- Artist Reviews Mechanical Pencils

Sakura Sumo Grip Mentioned in this Video: Papermate Colorpoint Colored Leads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iG_kuBTUEA&t=1s After reviewing two pencils with no grip, let's take a look at a big bruiser of a mechanical pencil with PLENTY of grip! The Sakura Sumo Grip is perfect for folks with arthritis or fine motor coordination issues, and may be ideal for your younger artist as well! Available in .5, .7, and .9 (for us heavy-handed folks) Sumo Grip: Available in .5mm (https://amzn.to/2ZoLveH), .7mm (https://amzn.to/2R86sGa), and .9mm (https://amzn.to/35tBIHU) $4.98 on Amazon Generous twist-up eraser Super comfy rubber grip Your color options are pretty limited, especially in .7 and .9 (this seems to be common with Japanese pencils), but having a comfortable pencil in larger sizes is great! Note: These pencils are gently used, so I no longer have the packaging, but they tend to be blister packed (plastic on a piece of cardboard). The .9 is slightly different from the .7- since it has a chunkier lead, it doesn't need the protective sleeve, and the collar is plastic, rather than metal. Writing: VERY comfortable to write with- if your hand cramps with smaller pencils, the Sumo Grip is a treat! The eraser is nice too- comprable to a Pentel Clic Erase Can you get eraser refills? Will it take Pentel refills? Blue Lead Sketching: Decent for sketching- the grip is super comfortable, but the size takes getting used to. It's definitely a lot larger than your average mechanical pencil, and larger than even a Dr Grip, which is pretty chonky. No breakages Graphite sketching (native lead) Bit of a stiff sketcher- not a lot of flex in the lead Compared to other pencils As yall can see, the SumoGrip is much larger than other mechanical pencils, although just slightly larger than the Dr Grip. The Verdict If you're looking for a larger mechanical pencil that may help with grip issues, the SumoGrip might be the mechanical pencil you're looking for! This might be a great mechanical option for younger writers, artists, and students who need a larger tool to help with fine motor skills.
