GUYdoestuff

Best episode of television ever made!!

diana (world of tinashe)

omfg you finally get to see / hear the speech between Rose and Shane but also witness the moment between Kip and Scott…tissues were needed

monika

this episode is PEAK TELEVISION

Parker

Ash

I’M SAT

Angela Ramirez

We love the women of heated rivalry 🩷

GUYdoestuff

The women of this show... truly amazing... I feel like its so real as a gay person... you find safe spaces with people and it truly is what keeps you going.

Laurel Meng

Ahhhh my favorite episode! So excited ❤️

Liv Heskett

If you’re looking for another short form show to watch next may I suggest jury duty/ jury duty presents company retreat. If you haven’t already watched on your own. 7 episodes. Just a lighthearted fun time.

Whatsmyline

Lol I love that you see 2017 and your TSwift brain goes straight to “Reputation Era baby!” 😂

Kayleigh

Best episode of television ever made 10/10 no notes

j-l

fun fact: they shot the tampa hotel room scene on their first day of filming!! as well as the vegas scene at the end of ep 2 but i think you knew that already lmao crazy how great their chemistry have been from the start, and going from the more cold and detached vegas scene to the very vulnerable and affectionate scene in tampa on the same day is so impressive to me. acting is so cool.

Kelsea Louise

Forever loving getting to experience people experience this absolute masterpiece of an episode. I sobbed my whole way through yet again👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Ian Mossner

Both Connor and Hudson have been cast in multiple movies already. Connor has ambassadorships with Saint Laurent and Tiffany and Co so he’s definitely not going back to waiting tables lol

Eric Nord

There is a section of the book that really informs the way Ilya's reaction to "I hired a stylist" goes through around five or six different emotions. I think Connor's portrayal of those thoughts is quite masterful.

Maya

This is genuinely one of the best episodes in television history. I sobbed through the whole thing. 🥹

Nicole Sadler

I didn't finish the reaction yet, but I just want to say I'm so sorry to hear about your family issues, and you do not deserve that! You have such a kind and loving heart, and it sucks when even the people related to you are awful human beings! You deserve all the love in the world, and I'm rooting for you! :)

tia

OMGGGGG IM SO EXCITED

Whatsmyline

Ugh sorry you’ve been dealing with BS family drama and grifters being grifters. I do gotta say— I love a well-deserved C bomb (I’m with the Brits on this one)! Tell your truth Danny! ❤️

David Wayne Fox

This is the first television show I've ever seen that left me sobbing for a full half hour after it was over. Sobbing... and laughing.

Francesca :)

this episode always makes me cry so much oh my god i really love how you reacted! the skip kiss on the ice and what it means for shane and ilya is so important and shows that representation MATTERS!!! it destroys me every time i watch that scene, best episode of the whole show tbh❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

j-l

33:40 dont apologize for laughing lmao, thats most peoples reaction to that part. its just funny in their situation. very proud of shane tho, he was being so brave that whole conversation🫶 i remember seeing someone say ''the concept of coming out to your top of 9 years'' lmfaooo

Timothy Alberts

You are a beautiful light in this world🙏

Liam Mcfarlane

Elena in episode 3 says to Scott "He deserves sunshine... and so do you" and then the song that plays at the end is "Give me your eyes, I need sunshine" 😭😭😭

Mikayla

I’ve watched this episode like 20 times at least it never gets old 😭

Lindsey T

If you’re looking for tv shows to react to next I highly suggest the good place. It’s really good (nothing will beat heated rivalry though, lol)

Ash

This has been so fun watching this with you Danny! At the end we both went “YES!!” at the same time 🤣

Francesca :)

we’re going to the cottage now😎

mari

this was a lovely reaction:) connor is definitely not back to serving tables lol, him and hudson got way too famous for that now. although they did say in the beginning of the whole thing they thought they would be back to serving tables, no one expected this show to get this big

Ayana Beau

I hate this show (not really). My emotions went up and down. I never got a chance to sit in my emotions and this is telling because that's how it is when something is so new and fast (only fast because of the amount of episodes. Hearing his dad died almost broke me. The encounter with Ilya's brother, I've seen from a mile away. Ilya had to put up with so much of his brother's crap, it was going to build and build and lead to a blow up (which was rightfully so). To cut off his brother is hard, but he did the right thing. my emotions were on a rollercoaster, but I love it. This show is one of the best things ever. The scene with Scott and Kip had me cheering so loud. I'm so happy for them. I'm excited for the last episode.

Noralicious

Ilyas story of his father’s dementia touches my heart so much. And also Ilyas mixed feelings by losting his dad but also being relieved. My dad died because of alzheimer when I was only 15 years old❤️‍🩹He suffered it about 12 years💔 But omg I’ve loved your reaction to this show sooo much!! And you are so amazing person because the way you speak and feel🙏🏼Sending love from Finland🇫🇮🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Jonah !

We love you sm Danny, this was really everything for me right here, my fav shows fav episode and your thoughts and your love and everything that you always bring to this chanel and your reaction, so honestly and with your whole being, thank you for making this a safe place for all of us and reminding us of the people that we can be and taht we are not alone, I hope your doing well and that you feel very loved, because you are. So super excited for the finale, get your tissues ready, once again for now at least and have the best time, till the next one, much love from one of your fans from Germany, once again <3 :)

Brittnee23

I just cried all the happy tears 🥹 ♥️♥️♥️

Laurel Meng

I think it’s funny that Ilya jokes that Shane could probably learn Russian in a week with no accent, when that’s basically what Connor did 😂

fuoliy

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE the attention to detail and small Easter eggs in this show and mostly this episode, in the hospital scene where Iliya goes to visit Shane you can see Shanes BP monitor that his heart rate is high but once Iliya enters the room the monitor shows that it's slowly going down to 81 which is Iliyas number that he wears. Another one in this episode would be at the end when Scott calls for kip to come with him on the ice, the song that starts playing starts with the lyrics " give me your eyes, I need sunshine " call back to Elena's speech to Scott in episode 3 saying to him that Kip deserves sunshine and so does he, another one that I forgot to mention in the last reaction is that in Iliyas leaving room above the couch they were sitting on, the mural is an abstract representation of the original book cover. This show just keeps on giving, I can't wait for your reaction to the finale, it's gonna be so good ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

heather

such a perfect ep of tv:)) also, for when you react to press vids, both connor and hudson did separate interviews on the “shut up evan” podcast that i hope you add to your list! i love their joint interviews, but those give more insight to them as individuals!

D Spumoni

Incredible, man!!! I found your channel around the time Wicked: For Good came out & watched the Part I reaction on YouTube before taking the Patreon plunge. I have been watching these HR reactions over the past few weeks and right at the start of this one, 100% seriously, I thought to myself, "damn, are there other people like this? Like, open book, accepting, seeking to spread kindness & being decent and supportive to whatever good human might need it?" And you said exactly that at the end of the episode, there are others out there! You're fantastic, all of the good you're putting out into the world with this channel is heard, seen, appreciated, and loved, and I hope it comes back to you ten-fold. See ya for Ep 6!

j-l

im so so sorry about your whole family situation danny :( you are a very strong and beautiful person

icyguess

I mentioned this somewhere else, but I have never sat and stared at the screen as long as I sat and stared after ep 5 ended the first time I watched it. I couldn’t process. It was so much, so beautiful, so emotional, so PERFECT. Jacob is a freaking genius, Rachel is a freaking queen, and Hudson and Connor are gifts to us all from up above. And we are all going to the cottage with you in a few days. Welcome to the club, you’ve been hollanov’d ❤️

Bryson

Danny’s officially coming to the cottage!! 🎉 This episode speaks for itself. I’m in tears for the millionth time. I don’t have much to say, other than... SCOTT. HUNTER. I just want to highlight Hudson’s acting in the scene where Shane comes out to Rose. His portrayal of the simultaneous, debilitating anxiety and immense relief of coming out to a loved one is easily one of the best I’ve ever seen. The terror of revealing something so personal about yourself that you cannot change, while knowing there’s a chance you’ll be rejected or much worse, is indescribable.

Lauren

Danny!! What a beautiful reaction to this episode- its amazing seeing how much you empathize with these characters and recognize how many aspects of the show are relatable/grounded in reality. Whereas a lot of popular romance stories tend to dramatize some aspects for entertainment, I think a lot of us became so attached to this show because of how real these characters' individual struggles feel. Like you mentioned, Hudson and Connor are able to say and convey so much complex emotion wordlessly, with just their eyes and expressions. Your words at the end of the episode (about how you heart felt so full of love) was so relatable; the director Jacob Tierney has said many times how he wanted this show to portray queer joy in a world where queer media is often pretty tragic. It's wonderful seeing you being so receptive to all of that!! One of my favourite moments in the show is the Tampa hotel scene from this episode, when Ilya finally lets down his walls and lets himself cry in front of Shane. The conversation Shane and Ilya have during this scene is even deeper in the book, with the two of them just holding each other for hours- Shane asking Ilya about his cross necklace and his complicated relationship with religion and family. The fact that you loved the ending of this episode makes me even more excited for your episode 6 reaction- it's a very beautiful and cathartic finale that solidified this as so many of our favourite shows. I've said it so many times now but just thank you for being such a kind person and being unafraid to cry and show love to all types of people out there- men like you really do give hope to people in a world where toxic masculinity is rampant. Looking forward to the finale on Saturday!! 💖

Eze Villxlba

I saw a lot of reactions where people were upset that Scott Hunter was the first hockey player to come out before Ilya and Shane did. But I loved it, in the sense that it symbolizes why we need representation and shows like these. I found the courage to come out as bisexual to some of my friends after watching Heartstopper and Nick’s journey of coming out to his family and friends. We need more Scott Hunters in the spotlight so that us Ilyas and Shanes can have it a little easier.

k(ate)

You should definitely react to Connor and Hudson’s interviews they are amazing you’d get a kick out of them

Whatsmyline

You’re deep in the throes of the 🤯🥳 ending of ep5 so absolutely no judgement but to clarify- svetlana is 💯 not in love with Ilya. They both love one another dearly but not in a romantic way ☺️

Zoe

so beautiful to watch you react to this masterpiece!!!!! ep 5 is truly something jesus christ. i feel so moved by this show still and i swear i've watched it like a hundred times already!!!!

j-l

ive seen so many reactors and just people online saying that they think shane shouldve recorded and translated what ilya said during the phone call, even saying that thats what they wouldve done in that situation... i honestly find that so worrying. why would you betray your partners trust like that ??? weird behavior its funny cause thats actually a huge fear of ilyas in the book during that scene, hes scared shane will somehow translate what hes saying. but then he realizes that shane would never do that to him, he can trust him🥹🫶

Craig

You're absolutely right about hate coming from fear did you know that a lot of disney villains, who were men were written to be To be flamboyant and feminine they wanted to show that femininity is evil. And that's why homophobia is tied to misogyny, because masculinity equals leadership strength etc And men are supposed to be" superior". So when a man dabbles in feminine activities it shows that masculinity and femininity don't mean a thing and that's just one of the fears that cause hate an oppression. So your spot on it's also one of the reasons why lesbians don't get as much hate. But they do get fetishized, which is just as bad, and they also see it as well.Woman are dabbling in masculinity when they're dating other women.Because they know it's "superior"

Laurel Meng

In queer media for the longest time, queer stories have largely been told through the lens of tragedy (see Brokeback Mountain). It’s so incredibly important that the tides are turning. Heated Rivalry is a beautiful example of portraying the hardships of being in the closet but also building a world where things can change. Rose, Elena, and Svetlana are also wonderful examples of the fact that it’s often women who are leading the charge in making this world a better place. ❤️

Mephistony

I’ve been watching your reactions for a while and I must say, there’s something really refreshing about how you don’t shy away from your emotions and actually sit with them. That kind of self-awareness is rare. And the fact that you consistently back people who are often pushed aside makes it even better. Thanks for being an ally, we need more people like that.

Liam Robb

You are absolutely right that Hudson's face acting is beyond elite, that man can portray a thousand emotions with just his eyes, it's incredible. My coming out was actually very similar to Shane's in highschool with my best friend at a restaurant, and I couldn't say a word either. That scene hits me like a truck every time seeing the anxiety in Shane's eyes alone and knowing exactly what he is feeling. What Hudson manages to tap into in this series in next level. Another great reaction and SEE YOU AT THE COTTAGE!

j-l

the ending of this episode will always mean so much to me. i think the look on shane and ilyas faces is what gets me the most, seeing them realize that there is hope for them is so beautiful. that whole scene just perfectly shows why representation matters so much. what shane and ilya feel watching scott and kip is what many queer people feel watching this show. its so important🥹🫶

Luísa

WE'RE GOING TO THE COTTAGE BABYYY 💥💥💥🔥🔥

Adriana

I’M COMING TO THE COTTAGE!!! I love this episode so much i’m soooo glad you loved it 🥰

Joey

Watching people experience this absolutely beautiful episode for the first time will always be everything. 💕🥹😭

LeAnna

I sob every time 😭 may we all find love this true and deep and real and may we all have friends as precious and genuine as Rose, Elena and Svetlana. It’s what we all deserve 🩵

Rsbl

You're definitely right about Hudson Williams' acting. His eyes always said more than what he told in words. He went from sad to horrified to happy to sad with just his eyes ✨ His scene with Rose is one of my fav moment of this episode.

A Vicarious View

Thank you so much for your attention to this series and your heartfelt empathy. As crazy as things get, it gives me hope to know there are still great allies in this world like you. It reminds me of how far we've come...but we still have so much further to go. I came out as gay in 2000 just after I turned 16 but I always find myself in Kip's shoes: pushed into other men's closets. Maybe one day I'll get my Scott Hunter moment. lol. Some day. Thank you again and warm wishes from Las Cruces, NM.

Ellie's Edits

I just came here from the Flicker reaction and that whole scene on the phone.....from beginning to end was like "Fire Away" coming to life. I BAWLED!!

Zoe

i adore the women on this show. also, it melts my heart how ilya says "is he ok? fucking tell me" when shane gets hit, it wouldn't pass as a natural reaction coming from him since they are supposedly "not close" but he couldn't care less at that moment and i love that. i feel like i've seen other movies where there were closeted people and even in truly awful moments like that the characters wouldn't dare to go out of their ways to show care for the other, and rightfully so. but it is so endearing watching ilya not giving a single fuck about that. wow i love them!!!! also, the representation is everything. this ep does not miss on anything!!!!

Gabriel Medrano

I can't wait for you to see "The Cottage," it's my favorite episode and I'm sure you'll love it. Fun fact: when Ilya sees Shane in Tampa, he breathes a sigh of relief and tries to cheer himself up because he doesn't know what Shane will say to him, and he thinks Shane is already engaged to Rose

Carley

It's not hard to see how this episode is tied as the best episode of television ever! Rachel Reid is from my hometown and the support from the community has been insane. She's a local celebrity now!!!

Ameth

the books really add so much fun stuff to so many scenes. The book of what's going through Ilya's head during the conversation at the bar with shane when shane said "if i tell you something can i keep it a secret" his mind was RACING. The books really show between the two Ilya is the one who overthinks. Ilya is WAY more nervous, anxious, concerned, and in love compared to Shane, the portrayal of Ilya in this show is amazing. Knowing the book you can see it but without it its easy to miss. Shane liked Ilya from early on but Ilya fell for Shane very quickly and he tried to hide it as much as physically possible for so long. Even before the first scene where they met Ilya had a crush on Shane from seeing him on tv or seeing him play in general. How in the first episode he even arranged for them to have a commercial together, little things like that really show it in hindsight

Ameth

during the russian monologue when Ilya was talking to shane on the phone right before he said i love you, around the time he paused, there was a cop car with its sirens on that drove by in the background. My gosh I love this show

Ameth

Ya know what i'm commenting too much about the books. Do you plan on reading them? If not there's one more thing I wanna mention from this episode that completely changes the dynamics of one scene, ilya changed his plans after shane got injured

Ameth

I dont know if this episode is still rated as such, but last I checked this episode was rated right next to the highest rated episode of tv ever. We got to spread that fun fact for weeeeeeeks, the gay hockey show beat breaking bad

Ameth

Let's celebrate they're finally on a first name basis after.... 10 years? I think now?

Dee

People only ever talk about Connor so let me give you info on Hudson cause he’s the other mainlead of the show too. Hudson also thought he’d be going back to his waitress job when the season dropped but the show blew up obviously! Hudson actually graduated acting college in Canada and was in some small 1 scene episodes on cops shows, hallmark movies and a small part in a netflix movie. Of course all them networks milk his name since he became famous even though he was only in them scenes for like less than 10 minutes but hey, it put his name/face out there. Hudson was also invited to the Oscars alone as a guest which rarely happens which is pretty freaking awesome. He also attended and presented at the Golden Globes along side Connor. Both was also said to be in the top 10 of best dressed at that event and many since then. They have had many magazines since HR finished and both get sold out hours after posting. One of the pictures in Hudson magazines went viral and people were talking about it for weeks! Since HR dropped a lot of racism has been thrown towards Hudson for unknown reasons other than the fact of him being his authentic self and not fitting into the Asian stereotypes Hollywood loves pushing in the media. People online has also made fun of him for being picky (because he has gotten sooooo many movie opportunities since HR and good on him for being able to decide what he wants) he’s got 3 major films dropping in 2026-2027 which will be thrillers/action filled and have many known actors playing along side him including dylan obrein (maze runner actor) He’s also on Youtube with his friends/college friends and makes short films. Button, Snow Angel and Super Support are his most popular but he has amazing other/stars in other with his friends too!! He just won best director at a film festival and won other awards from his short films recently also!! Both Connor and Hudson are directors, as Connor also dropped a short on Youtube. They were waitresses and acted on the side. It’s almost like it was fate they met as during skype auditions they didnt know if they’d get the part but still got each others numbers so the fact they became close if beyond cool. Make sure to watch Hudson interviews as yes, he can be “wild” but he’s honestly a deep and thoughtful guy and there’s definitely more once you pull back the curtain! Cant wait for your episode 6 reaction xoxo Representation matters and I’m happy Hudson loved Shane and put so much care into his character. He’s my favorite character in the book, so many hate on his as a character and what Hudson brought to the screen is honestly inspirational.

Michael from Seattle

What a great reaction! Fun fact Scott and Kip's book is titled Game Changer - so appropriate!

Juan Suárez

Danny… your reaction and your words at the end of this episodio made me sob! you truly are a beautiful human being and the kindness of your thinking and the encouragement of your words made me think for a second that the world can be a better place💞 I am myself homosexual and a very feminine boy in a third world country, so I have unfortunately seen how rude and despicable people can be at someone just for being different. Watching your videos and being in this community makes me feel like there’s still so many good people out there and I just need to find my crew and form a family who can truly love ❤️

Emilia Hannett

Ahhh this episode is so amazing!! Love how much joy this episode brought you! I literally start crying as soon as I see kips dad is with them every time I watch haha🥹🩷 Can’t wait to watch your reaction to the cottage!!

Ana

I love your reactions so much! I related so much with moment you stood up, because you felt something was going to happen with Scott, cus i did the same thing! And i love your vulnerability and how you’re not afraid to show your feelings and talk about it! It’s so refreshing to see this coming from a guy… and it gives me hope that the world is not as fucked up as it seems

Mia89

💜💜💜💜💜

Jeff Beadle

Danny, there's no way that you noticed this detail, because you love him so much you for sure would've commented: Kip's dad was at the final game, sitting in the seat on the OTHER side

John DaRos

Heated Rivalry episode 5 is one of the best ever. I put it up there with the finale of Six Feet Under. You’re right - it fills your heart, it’s a roller coaster, and such a powerful, beautiful episode throughout. Everyone in the show is spectacular. Connor and Hudson, Francois and Robbie, and of course their women besties!! Just phenomenal. As a gay man who played hockey growing up, I really appreciate how you reacted to this episode. Straight men who can openly appreciate the struggle and celebrate the love of gay couples are rock stars in my book. I’m blessed to have great straight men in my life - my dad, my brother, several close friends - it’s an important statement of embrace and acceptance. Thank you for doing this. 👍

ForEvermore

Thank you for being you, Danny. This show is incredible, your vulnerability is incredible. Thank you!

V

I like Hayden, but finally someone brings out how much of a weirdo he can be - always looking at Shane's phone as lily texts - and the way you said it, came from deep down lol. From Ohio here's btw - keep up the great work!!

Allie Eff

Guys I think we need to chill a tiny bit in the comments. Sometimes we just need to let juke interpret things how he feels. That’s the beauty of art and cinema. You don’t need to leave a dissertation on every video when you think something means something different 😭😭

ℒ𝓊𝓏 ꨄ

Former hockey player, Jesse Kortuem came out as gay recently and credited Heated Rivalry for inspiring him to share his story. This show really did change many lives and yet it still gets hated on by the media. Love your reactions. ❤️

Johart Maroto

I fucking LOVE your reactions. You’re such a kind human being. 🥹🥹🥹 thank you for being You. Ughh we need more people like you in the world. This episode always gets to me. 😭

Willdog

The emotions you give out is so heartfelt and genuine. To hear how you deal with things like hardships, on going family topics, and more. Truly helps me as well. You have made me feel so many feelings this episode. And I truly just want to thank you for being such a kind, caring, loving, and accepting person. There is not a lot of people that show this kind of care in my life. Watching you helps me fill that kinda void of empathy I don't normally see around me❤️

JRod

Well damn! I was over here warning you to emotionally prepare yourself for this episode but I forgot to emotionally prepare myself to see you get emotional and now I'm crying 😭😭😭

Valentina

I've rewatched this probably 10 times but I'm crying all over again with all of you now ❤️ best episode!!!

Valentina

Also, Danny, I'm so sorry to hear your family situation and unfortunately I can relate 💔 I know it's though but you are also building a beautiful life for yourself and for this community, we appreciate you

Nora

ugly crying rn😭

Tyler Eldridge

Thank you so much for reacting to this show it means the absolute world, just like you said kindness is a wonderful domino effect. That is what your empathy and act of reacting to this show is. I thought you’d like to know a little detail that happens in the end of the show when Scott and Kip kiss on screen, the song that plays in the background has a lyric in the beginning “Give me your eyes I need the sunshine”. Earlier in Scott and Kip’s episode Kip’s best friend tells Scott that they both deserve sunshine. Both the song and what she says implies and forshawdow not only the idea that they deserve to have the right of loving one another in the light but it being received with warmth. After watching this show this song has helped me process a lot of trauma of going being gay and wanting to love openly in an unsafe environment.

Juke Jams

I made sure to give this episode a 10/10 on IMDb 😌💙

Gz

oh juke, this adds so much more.. sending love cant wait for the cottage x

tia

You’re one of the most genuine people I have ever seen thank you so much for this reaction. I’m so glad you reacted to the show it means the world to me and I’m so sorry that you can relate to some of the things regarding ilya’s family. You’re such a beautiful soul!!

Anna

***REQUEST*** Is there any way you could do a live after you’ve watched all of these so we can all discuss??? I‘m bursting at the seams to talk about this with my people!

deera

im sure someone might have already mentioned this but fun fact @ the bar scene before shane said he had a stylist, in the book ilya is panicking because he thinks shane's going to tell him that hes engaged. thats why he breaks out into this big grin

Mallary Hampton

Genuinely one of the best pieces of television I’ve ever seen. It was just done so beautifully. And set up to give us the best possible cinematic climax with the kiss. Uggghh I sobbed all over again even though it was my like 50th time watching it.

Allie

I loveee them including the detail of Ilya touching Shane’s cheek/freckles in the hospital. Little nod to the book because Ilya mentions how much he absolutely loves those “stunning” freckles multiple times.

Allie

There is a scene in the book that I really wish they kept in that is so touching and shows how deeply they care for and love each other. In a phone call after the epic Russian phone call, Shane tells Ilya that he made a donation to the Alzheimer’s society of Canada for Ilya’s father. And then heartbreakingly Ilya says that it might be good for him if the disease is hereditary.

Allie

I can’t wait for the finale 💙💙 - be sure to get your tissues ready for it too!

Allie

Ilya tries to put on this cool guy asshole front but he’s truly the most tender guy at heart who loves kids (and dogs 😉) and his bf and seeing his team happy

David Casarez

I am excited for you to experience The Long Game when you get to it. We are all not ready for Season 2 but I guarantee you that in the world we live in today it's what we all need. Thank you for being such an awesome person! Being a gay, Hispanic catholic I'm not used to having positive representation (especially from Allies such as yourself) as much anymore. We definitely need positivity. I'm so glad to have joined your Patreon!

David Casarez

Also, in ep.5 during the phone call (Ilya's Monolog) pay attention to the audio quality when Ilya speaks to Shane. In the beginning you can tell it is through the phone but when Ilya starts talking about his real feelings in Russian and Shane closes his eyes the audio changes to as if Ilya is right there in the room with him. Once Ilya says "Ok, I'm done" it goes back to the Phone Call audio. What a great use of audio and a great call by Jacob!

johanna

you need to watch interviews of Hudson and Connor, they're so awesome and smart

Alisha

You reaction to the end, mirrored mine, Danny. However, I just wanted to give you a huge hug.

SBianca

We are just sitting here at the cottage…impatiently waiting for you to join us! 😩😂

Gz

juke when I say this... you are the most genuine person. your empathy, your love. your understanding. wish I had you in my life as a friend,,

Gz

also I got hard when juke said cunt.. love it

Gz

oh Danny i just watched the rest of that..sorry I'm the asshole...I should have listened.. sorry... much love to you

Kim Simpson

You are such a lovely spirit and my heart goes out to you dealing with your family, I lost my Dad to dementia last year and it’s heartbreaking. Much love to you and let’s go to the Cottage! ❤️❤️

Kalisoul

Two of the hockey podcasts day that the hit was perfectly clean. Shane was in the section of the ice where attention is everything; and that Shane’s change of attention was the harmful error.

Kalisoul

In the book; Shane has had girls & BJs from them. Jessica (Hayden’s reference) was Shane’s GF who didn’t come to the draft; he broke up with her after. So neither “Gold” or “Platinum” gay. lol

Cheryl Wosley

You should watch Schitts Creek. It is another Canadian Show and it is a great queer piece of entertainment. The main character and show creator is Queer and came up with, "I like the wine and not the label." Everyone lives in the town without any homophobia.

Ashli Childs

Ilyas reaction when Shane tells him about the designer is sweet. In the books he has so much anxiety because he thinks Shane is about to tell him he doesn’t need him any more so he is completely relieved when Shane says he hired a stylist.

Ashli Childs

Sorry if this has already been said but Ilya talks about how this all star game was the best time of his life because he never has experienced a teammate that could keep up. It’s one of my favorite moments.

Jeffrey Neal

The emotions from this episode are unreal! Love you man!

Guillermo R

This episode is emotionally heavy, and it's heavier when you can relate to it.

This was the most pure and emotional reaction ever 🥹 honestly I wish there were more people like you in this world, firstly for what you put out into the world but like also how your able to appreciate media like this when a lot of other people would be put off by the fact it’s a gay love story but like why can’t we just appreciate a GOOD LOVE STORY. You should defo check out heartstopper on the channel or in your own time. Really beautiful show just about queer experience, queer joy and friendship! Can’t wait for ep 6!!!! ❤️

I know people have previously stated that Hollanov and Skip can't be directly compared, but they are parallels in some ways. Scott and Kip's book is called Game Changers and they do indeed change the game for Shane and Ilya. From this and episode 3, we can see that Skip is meant to be sunshine (with Elena's line and with the lyrics of I'll Believe In Anything), but we can compare Hollanov as moonlight. They come alive in darkness and shadows, they also (like the literal moon) cannot be seen without the existence of the sun (scientifically bc the moon reflects sunlight back at earth) but canonically, Ilya was trying to end things with Shane before Scott's cup win and he changes his mind and comes to the cottage instead. This is further reinforced by the episode 4 Shane/Ilya montage to My Moon, My Man and the Russian monologue scene with Moonlight Sonata. In conclusion, Skip = sun, Hollanov = moon. They are intrinsically linked and yet vastly different. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Oh both Hudson and Connor are getting craaazy amounts of attention. They are booked and busy. After you react to the show would you be willing to react to some of their interviews? Their compliments battle, thirst tweets, an individual Shut Up Evan appearances are so good. You rlly get to see multiple sides to them as ppl and artists

Ilya's and Shane's faces were probably what undid me more than the actual Skip kiss did. Seeing that hope on Ilya's face shattered me into a million pieces; it broke my heart and healed me all at once

Hello, New viewer here. At least on Patreon. As an older gay man it is really nice to see a young man such as yourself with so much grace and compassion. TY for your authenticity on camera it may be small 2 u but it is very refreshing too see. You are an absolutle gentleman. Never change. ❤️

This was such a great episode, and I completely agree about certain family members just leeching off of you. The same thing happened with my grandparents on my father's side. My uncle demanded my grandpa's pension be given to him for taking care of him and whenever he got that money his family would spend that pension money for buying clothes, vacation for themselves. Both my grandparents passed away within a year of each other and my uncle and his family are still living in my grandparent's house. My uncle's children are all younger than my brother and me and they all hate us and don't talk to us. But whenever my uncle needs money he will call my dad. It's sad that no matter what culture we belong to or where we live, we all have some similar experiences like this and people like this exist in the world who can't even be kind to their own family

The line “I’m coming to the cottage” is epic. After such a moving scene, dropping this line is perfect. Reminds me of After Life (Ricky Gervais) which is filled with such scenes, devastating or moving scenes and suddenly a funny line and you end up crying and laughing

One thing I respect this show for is how they handle the female characters. None of them are villains, they are all just humans who are trying their best for the men in their lives. Yuna, Svetlana, Maria, Elena, and Rose are all queens. Even Jackie even though we don't get enough of her.

I always wait until reactors get to this episode. You called him a domino but he's the game changer. His book is the first one and is called Game Changer for a reason. As much as Shane and Ilya are the fan favorites and Heated Rivalry and the Long Game usually rank high for book readers, the series is the Game Changers series and it all comes back to Scott Hunter.

Aj

The Scott & Kip moment on the ice…..we don’t get that as queer people. I can’t even explain how I felt the first time I saw it. It will stay with me forever.

I know this is way too late for me to comment on this video, but hey, I just joined haha! I recently realized that I really need to watch your reactions to movies, and Heated Rivalry is definitely one of them. Honestly, there are still so many more videos I want to watch, so I guess I have a lot of catching up to do haha. But while watching your videos, I just wanted to take a moment to say how genuinely grateful I am that I found your channel. You are such a good person, Juke, and I really mean that. There’s something about the way you react to things, the way you talk, and the energy you bring that makes your videos feel so comforting and safe. You’ve somehow become one of my favorite people on the internet, and your channel honestly feels like a little safe space for me. Sometimes, when the world feels a little too cruel or overwhelming, watching your videos makes things feel lighter. You make me laugh, but more than that, you somehow make me want to be a better and kinder person. I’m genuinely so thankful and happy that you exist and that I got to know your channel. I know you probably don’t realize how much your content can mean to someone on the other side of the screen, but I hope you know that you’re making a difference, even in ways you might never see. I hope life is always kind to you, Juke. I hope you’re healthy, happy, surrounded by good people, and that you always have reasons to smile. Thank you for creating this little safe space for us. I’m really glad I found you. ❤️
