It's nice to revisit the the white room instrumentals!

I have heard the opening before in one of Ohrenje's documentaries, which may have been the Kanami one in particular.

Now, after looking through the score and seeing the words...I am so curious what the song with that section sounds like. It's only about 8 measures that were cut out, BUT STILL!

I love the melody that Kanami created here and as usual, Misa, Miku and Akane are all killing it in their own ways. I am always amazed to follow along and see the work done in their parts and there is so much to see.

Brava to these ladies!

No, there are no human lyrics. Maybe Pigeon lyrics, Po. ☺️ It must be a misprint.

Bandmaidfanatl

Wow! I didn't know that lyric section existed. I have never heard it played. I don't think there is a recorded version with the lyrics, and they have only played it 5 times live, once on the online Okyu-ji and 4 other in Japan, so likely those aren't recorded.

Bandmaidfanatl

Those 8 bars aren't there. You should play it!

Wayne B

EVH is smiling when this song is played!

Glenner7

Those lyrics are from Giovanni. It's a mistake. They issued a replacement page 319 for the score.

Wayne B

Without Miku's advancement in her playing Kanami would have to change her writing so much! With Miku getting better, it released Mincho to explore her upper limit on that PRS!

Wayne B

Miku plays Zemaitis Guitars, electric and acoustic, since the Rickenbacker days. Her flying V is a rare guitar from Zemaitis.

Vlad the Maidiac

Sorry, that's my fault, with that page 319. I did not replace it in the PDF file. There was a mistake in the book, this page was duplicated from Giovanni. But later they sent it to everyone as a separate file. It's in the same folder, BRZP-95011_P319.pdf

Vlad the Maidiac

I replaced now that wrong page 319, now it should be the correct one. I wonder why they don't share a PDF file for members of BAND-MAID Prime... It would be much easier for everyone...

Miku is playing on a Zemaitis guitar, she has I believe two signature models

Wayne B

Never heard any reference to a vocal line in this song, always thought it was a instrumental only. Maybe Kanami left that open to vocals, but it was decided they were unnecessary?

Charles Coleman

I totally agree with your comment about Miku. Her rhythm guitar adds so much to this and many other songs. It often gets overlooked, but it's essential to the Band Maid sound and by holding down her part and adding that hard rock bite, she allows Misa and Kanami to do what they do best. If there's a better band on the planet, I haven't heard them yet. Kuruppo!

Charles Coleman

There is another instrumental that you haven't checked out yet but need to. Don't Be Long. It might well be my favorite instrumental of theirs. And of course, you will be soon hearing Get To The Top off their new album. These ladies never fail us.

Sawzar

Nice reaction as always.I think there was a misprint too... Also Miku's guitar shoud be a Zemaitis.

Jonas

I don't think it is "pentatonic", for me the solo sounds more like a "harmonic minor scale", I don't think minor pentatonic would sounds like that

NittPicc Reacts

Ugh. You’re right. Second look at it, it’s a G harmonic minor scales starting on D moving over that d minor chord. My ears like to hear pentatonic scales so I opted for that choice. I should’ve actually did the theory. 😅 Thank you for this!

NittPicc Reacts

OH! Lol! That explains it. Thank you for the update. 🥰

Bandmaidfanatl

Strange that page 1 also has lyrics credited.

Vlad the Maidiac

Maybe just a copy-paste mistake. That page 319 was also an error in the book, later they sent a replacement PDF file for this page.

Xenos

This is my favorite instrumental, like you mentioned it just sounds so positive and driving. Always gets my hyped

Bandmaidfanatl

Plus "Go Nuts!" and "Wash Hands," Po! 🕊️

Juan San

I'm a layman in music theory but, as you, other reviewers have said this solo uses the Egyptian scale.

Juan San

Oh, she did Don´t be long in her YT channel.

Chris Bergsten

If she does Don't Be Long, IMO she ought to include Ron Ayala's fancam of their performance at Gramercy Theater. Even though it's a fancam, quality is pretty decent and I consider it the definitive live version... for reasons.

P in D

... and "Want More!" ;) .

Prutgardin

Whenever I'm feeling down or sad, I just watch the Akane-cam version of this song and all is good in the world ;)

Prutgardin

Herman Li played along to this song, when he auditioned to join BAND-MAID ;)

Zelbinian

Yeah this is my favorite instrumental of theirs... so far! Also, I don't know if you know this or not... since you have the physical disc you should have access to not only the composite video you just watched, but isolated white room performances for each of the 4 members.

Bill Hallisey

I know "Without Holding Back" while being a composed, structured, and scored, really sounds like an impromptu jam session. It sounds like they're having fun just goofing around.

Mike Holmes

"Egyptian pentatonic" ? I think that's phyrgian mode, yeah? :)

Zero T Zer0

Payed by $ just to hear this reaction! Had To! Great reaction BTW

Vlad the Maidiac

Destiny sent her the book with the CD, as far as I understand. The white room version of "without holding back" was on the Unseen World DeLuxe version, on a separate Blu-Ray.
