Welcome back to part 2!

We left off from Dallas and Houston where I wish I knew who the Maids were before 2022...😓

We begin our journey after Texas and go through the their last show in Chicago that ended in happy tears. I was really worried about Kanami towards the end of the tour. She was giving it her all. I hope she got the best rest of her life after that tour.

The first time I watched this I cried when Kanami almost couldn't go on, what a trooper!

Eaglez1

Actually they flew home and a couple days later opened for GnR

Edward Allen

The Pictures on Kanami's pedal board were of Daisuke Kondo, their tech guy. He was unable to be on this tour as he smashed himself up on his motorbike and was hospitalized for 3 months. Their fill in was a lady called Misa who everyone fell in love with it seems.

It's the American Dream mall in NJ. It's 5 miles from my house but I didn't find out about Band-Maid till the next year. It kills me every time I drive past, po.

Daniel Morgan

I’m a prime subscriber but haven’t seen these till now, and it was fun experiencing it along with you, thanks!

Kanami was suffering from anemia at the end of the tour. I was at the Chicago concert as I did notice Kanami was absent during Miku's magic spell time. I didn't know what was going on, but when she was on stage, there wasn't anything noticeable. She played as great as always.

As others have mentioned, it's the American Dream mall in NJ. It's the second biggest mall in America behind the Mall of America. The concert took place in the middle of the Nickelodeon theme park in the mall... the weirdest venue they've ever played for sure! 😆 That was literally a roller-coaster they were pointing to, and after the show security closed the park up fast and all the Maids except Kanami , who's afraid of heights, rode the roller-coaster. 😊

NittPicc, I hope this doesn't make you jealous or sad, but not only did Ohrenje go to the Philadelphia show, but he went to the after party as well. I got to meet him, he is such a great guy. Another of your Patreon supporters, Vladimir Chupin was there too. The after party was almost as much fun as the show! The Tattooed Mom was a great host and their drink prices were really reasonable! I highly recommend trying to plan some after parties whenever they come back - 2026? 🤞

Charles Coleman

Yes and at the end of the tour in Chicago, Kanami brought her onstage with her and the crowd cheered wildly for her. Very classy move by our Mincho. She is just the best.

NittPicc Reacts

It’s so crazy seeing the names and faces of those I see online. It makes me excited that possibly someday I could meet everyone! …and it doesn’t make me sad…maaaaaaybe a little jealous! Lol

BTW Ohrenje went to 4 shows on this tour, DC, Philly, NYC, & Boston. It was his first & only okyu-ji's so far. I met & hung out with him in Philly. 😊

Charles Coleman

NittPicc, the venue they played in NJ, American Dream, was in a mall. It even has a roller coaster that you can see part of in the venue area.

After watching this back then i read some articles about differences in touring from west to east or with the sun from east to west.

First of all, this was such a fun reaction video, NittPicc. It also got emotional in some spots, especially as concerns Kanami's health. I believe in the last show, perhaps others, Miku told the crowd, that they had hoped to give us, their fans, energy with these shows, but it was actually the fans who gave them the energy and the power. I think it was both ways. So many of us had waited so long to see them again or for the first time. So many fans traveled from very far away. the band wasn't sure if we would still be there for them, despite the news of sold out shows. I do believe they were deeply moved by the support they got. They even wrote a song about it. Memorable. I personally was at 4 shows, LA, San Diego, Philly and Boston. I live in Pennsylvania. I probably spent more money than I should have, but it was totally worth it and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. A big part of the fun was meeting all the masters and princesses before and after the shows. I'm 61 and I've never experienced anything quite like Band Maid and their fan community. Life is so much better because of it. Kuruppo!

Charles Coleman

Then I think it's a good chance that you and I met. Which is very cool. That after party was Krazy! Maidiac takeover! But no fights, nothing broken, just a lotta love for Band Maid and appreciation for one another. We must do that again!

Charles Coleman

Yes, NittPicc-chan, save your money. Even if you can only make it to one show, it is so worth it. And if you can get VIP and make it on "the rail" it is such an incredible experience. I hope everyone could have that at least once in their life.

I'm glad there are also so many fantastic fan cams of this tour and the 23 tour. Each member is a hoot. That fan in Central Park was truly the luckiest guy ever!

William Hallisey

Kanami's pedalboard looks like something out of NASA.

William Hallisey

American Dream is a huge entertainment and shopping complex in New Jersey. It has indoor roller coaster, which the Maids rode before their concert.

Juan San

And they MAID IT. That was a demonstration of courage. No one had any doubt after that that they would climb to whatever heights were necessary to achieve World Domination. Thanks NittPicc, I haven't seen this documentary for a long time.

Glen Kelley

Thanks for finishing the Doc. If I remember correctly, the Chicago concert was added due to demand and the Boston venue was moved to the Paradise Club, again for overwhelming demand - it's a bigger venue than the original one. The Paradise is also one of the oldest and most celebrated venues in Boston for rock concerts and has a wrap-around stage, there are some great fancams for this venue (I think Vlad has the best ones). Also some fancams of the band taking a ride in the roller coaster after the concert.

Also, I think at this time Saiki was still pretty shy and that shows in her stony face when getting ready to go on - performance jitters. Too bad you can't take beta blockers, they were a godsent for my daughter for her anxiety before performances.

Yeah, Band-Maid toured the US in 2019. They hit LA, Dallas, and NYC. That year they did meet and greets with the VIP ticket holders, so I've gotten to meet them and talk to them - but I only had a tiny bit of Japanese, and I didn't know what to say to them anyway (as is usually the case if I meet celebrities) and I was self-conscious about holding up the line so I hardly said two words to them as I rushed past. And they'll probably never do that again... 2019 was also the last time they toured Europe. The European fans are understandably bitter about that. There was some fan discourse around the time of those last few shows where Kanami was struggling. I don't remember it very well; there were some comments about Kanami having "a weak body" or some kind of anemia, and I don't know how much of that came from the band vs. fan speculation/misunderstanding. I don't think we ever got any clear explanation... and, of course, they don't owe us that, so it remains a mystery. They're more conscious about fitting rest days into their tours now. I was at their Seattle show in 2022 and although fans hate to see it, it wasn't my favorite Band-Maid show. Apparently Seattle crowds are a little too cool to enjoy things, and part of the fun of live shows is the crowd energy. Band-Maid very much feeds off of and returns that energy and I felt like that show was just alright. Maybe that had something to do with the long COVID hiatus too. Still, their experience touring the US that year led them to write Memorable (if you haven't heard that yet, you HAVE to hear it now that you have this context), and they've talked about their warm reception by the US fans. When they came back in 2023 to hit a number of US festivals, they returned with a vengeance and they've been on fire since then. Saiki in particular seems to have developed a lot of confidence in the past couple of years, not just with her singing but starting to play keys on stage.

I was there at the Fillmore in D.C. It was a great venue and the concert was awesome. I met so many great people before the concert and after.

Hey NittPicc, so I almost went to the finale in Chicago as it fell on my birthday but I couldn't swing it before it Sold-Out :-( Venue in NJ was inside a shopping mall that did have a mini-amusement park and there's video of the everyone riding a roller coaster either before or after the show :-) The Maid's did tour the US in 2019, 5 show tour starting with 2 shows in NYC, a show in Dallas and 2 shows in LA at the Echoplex. I drove to LA for the 2 Echoplex show.....they were amazing, the big thing I came away with was the 180 personality turn from Saiki the "Tsundere" in 2018 with the icy cold stare to 2019 in LA where she was smiling and laughing and talking to the fans during the Meet n Greet......I was shocked!!! LOL.
