So Jacen had to get a glucose monitor attached to him and to prevent him from licking it off, they put a “crop top” of some kind on him.

Well…he didn’t look as cool with that on, so I decided to get him a hoodie! Look at this little guy now!

Doesn’t he look awesome?!?

I wear a CGM and after your post yesterday I had to look up how they might do that on a cat. Poor little guy ... they don't hurt and after a minute you don't even know they are attached. Just keep track of when and what you feed him so you can see the effects of his diet on his sugar levels. These are very useful devices ... I would never do finger sticks so these things literally helped save my life.

When I first started the cost was NOT covered by my health care provider ... now it is. Even at 40 USD a piece needing a new one every 2 weeks, the benefits far outweighed the cost. In the beginning you needed to purchase and carry a reader, but now all of that can be handled from any smart phone. There are 2 kinds ... I have used both. There are plusses and minuses to each but both are extremely beneficial. Freedom Libre 2 and Dexcom G7 are both about the same to apply while the Freedom Libre 2 gives you 2 weeks of coverage the Dexcom provides 10 days. Seeing the effects of what you eat or drink in real time is incredibly enlightening. It can really help in managing your intake and diet. Freedom you have to tell your phone to take a scan, the Dexcom is a true CGM taking constant measurements, but beware if your phone is in a location more than 30 feet from your monitor as it will sound the alarm repeatedly. You can get a free sample from Freedom ... just write to them ... and stick it on your dad :p . I think once he uses one he will want to continue. You get old and the fear of something new persists ... just show him how happy Jacen is :) .
