NittPicc, not going to put you down about Jeff Beck. He was one of the most innovative rock guitarists ever. He was an original member of the Yardbirds with Eric Clapton. I believe he also played with Joh Mayall. I really aging myself on this. Beck's history and work is definitely worth a future look.

Just in case you didn't know, this anime is made by Kyoani, the same studio that made Hibike Euphonium. It is also the directorial debut of my favourite director, Naoko Yamada (she also directed A Silent Voice btw). Pay attention to the leg shots, that's one of her signature way of showing emotions and characters.

Ah K-on!, what a throwback ^^'. I watched it when it aired first so yeah, it's been a while, I even have the dvd of the two season and at least one movie and the manga when this anime is adapted. If I remember correctly, it's by the same studio that make Sound Euphonium, but since the start of the 2000's where when the great "moe vibe" was a thing, so everything needed to be cute and K-On! is perfect for that, it's cuteness overload you'll see. I even think that K-On! was one of the first anime that people into anime called "cute girls doing cute things". As for NEET, yes, that the term used to describe young people who have no job and are not students or in formation (but they can try to find a job and have a social life). The other term you thinked might be hikkikomori, who are people that totally refuse to quit their home. The two are not really the same, but an hikkikomori is by definition a NEET. Btw, the opening and ending are both made like this is the band playing and singing, all OP are sung by Yui's voice actress and all ED by Mio's VA, but the music is really good and there is some insert songs too, so not just the OP and ED are worth listening. They also release several characters songs, songs that are written and sung like it's one of the character from the anime that sing it and of course, sung by the voice actress of the character as well, so, when you will be a lot more attached to the characters, you might want to take a look at them ^^.

In the epsiode nro 4 of Bocchi the Rock called "Jumping girls", Ryo said that a "any anime that they jump in the OP is a god-tier one". This is most certainly a reference to the first OP of K-On as you see.

BAND-MAID were using that tea set theme a lot in their early years. They were actually putting a tea set on Miku's amp. That's how they start the MV for "the non-fiction days": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItYN-ri1NPs They used it the last time in "Manners" MV, which is kind of a review of what they were and what they aspire to in the future.

Yeah, Jeff Beck is kind of a legendary figure. I never really listened to him, he was always playing the style of music that did not really touch my heart, but he's definitely a legend. I don't know if you remember this short video about Kanami: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/B95djeZ-2V8 "Steve Vai once said..." Kanami puts her hand into the hand imprint of Steve Vai, but you see on the right... whose signature is there? Yes, it's Jeff Beck.

Hey NittPicc, this is my second music related anime behind Bocchi the Rock. It has a lot of slice of life but music too. I will be looking forward to it. I have watched it multiple times.

Thank you for reminding me the director. That scene on playground from Silent voice, that tells you feels by feets is stucked in my memory.

Thanks for doing this one, I watched this quite a while back and really enjoyed it. From what I've read, this anime helped encourage girls in high school to join the different after school music clubs. Also, notice the lack of smartphones in the show, back in 2009 there were not that many smartphone around, especially ones that took pictures, hence the camera in their group photo at the end. As Vlad mentioned, Jeff is considered one of the best rock guitarist starting in the 60's up until his untimely death in 2023, he was only 78 and was still playing gigs. He was always experimenting with new sounds and techniques. Playing jazz, fusion, blues and just about all other genres . There's a saying that when you talk about great guitarist, there's Jeff Beck and then there's all the rest.

NEET means Not in Education, Employment, or Traning. It can be linked to shut-in but not always the case. Also, the ending song is performed by Scandal.
