I've needed women role models for such a long time in my life.

I was given the gift of BAND-MAID, but I feel like this is the other gift I have been waiting for.

I like to imgaine that this is what BAND-MAID will be like in the future. Still rockin' it out on stage with various styles of maid outfits and being adorable as usual.

These women are the women I want to be. Aging gracefully, but looks like and sounds like I kick musical ass everyday!

Yes, Show-Ya is still rocking in 2025. Playing again this year at the (Show-Ya produced) Naon no Yaon festival. Which also featured Nemophila and Hagane this year. There’s video floating around of Hagane’s set…well worth watching. While you are diving into all-female, Japanese rock from the 80’s, don’t forget Princess Princess (Puri Puri to their fans). “19 Growing Up” from their 1988 tour is a good place to start… https://youtu.be/xKMke40Uc7s?si=llKc0tcOm-b9ZOPL They disbanded in 1996 🙁. But the drummer and bass player often play in the Naon no Yaon “house band”. Here’s a link to this year’s all-star Princess Princess sing-a-long… https://youtu.be/jlEb2uRu2NU?si=2FWOjW8ZTmcy7-gL

The band was started in 1981 by singer Keiko Terrada & keys player Miki 'Captain' Nakamura with the classic line-up of Show-Ya fully formed by 1984 completed by guitarist Miki "Sun-go" Igarashi, drummer Miki "Mittan" Tsunoda and bassist Satomi Senba. This version of the band was around until February 1991 when Keiko quit to go solo. The band tried to continue with two different singers, Steffanie Borges ('91–'96) and Yoshino ('96-'98) but struggled comparatively, releasing only one album in those 7yrs and split up at the end of 1998. They reformed with Keiko in 2005 and have since released 4 more albums, gigging occasionally and staying active with the yearly Naon no Yaon female performer festival they organise & produce. This was first run from '87-'91, then in '08 and has been held annually again since '13 except for '20 which was cancelled due to the pandemic. Keiko was still at full power vocally in 2019, finally started lose a little stamina and range in the last couple of years but then she's 62 now. She's taken far better care of herself than Steven Tyler for sure, but then he's also 77 and the better part of a year older than Ozzy Osbourne.
