oh...my...gosh...

My brain felt like it was going to completely melt listening to this...and I'm talking about the good kind of melting.

I think I got the idea they were going for when it came to the title of the song being connected to the time signatures that they were using in performance. This is some intense counting!

Bravo/Brava to this band!

Oh Tricot is amazing, I hope you react to more of their songs

MrMette

Thank you so much for reacting to tricot, they have become one of my favourite Japanese bands after really not enjoying the first track or two I heard. But I guess progressive music just grew more on me over time. I wouldn't say all of their stuff is as complex as this, but a lot of their stuff certainly has some more complex feel next to the relatively accessible and more poppy vocals they throw in. This one is probably one of their more complex tracks though, but it's one of my favourites. The band doesn't like the term Math Rock and call themselves an Alternative Rock band instead, but a lot of their music certainly has Math Rock vibes. This whole 5 track set on the Audiotree channel is amazing btw. As far as other bands more in this style of even more crazy go (I didn't check if you already reacted to any of them though). - Sokoninaru is probably even more insane than this as far as rhythms and things like that goes. - There is a very small band that I like a lot called "tone spoon" that is somewhat similar to this, but less complex. They are really good, but are still under 500 subs unfortunately. I just have to mention them every time I can, because even though they don't have that much music yet, they deserve more ears on them. I still regularly listen to the EP they release a couple of years ago. - An other great performance on Audiotree is the Taiwanese Jazzy Math Rock band Elephant Gym, I think you would love to watch the Audiotree performance on their track "Finger" a lot as someone who is learning to play bass. - Paranoid Void is a Math Rock trio with very complex rhythms at points who nowadays also throw in some electronica here and there. Not something I am always in the mood for as it can be a bit too complex at times, but it's really impressive and sometimes it just works. - The Japanese band Toe are more Post-Rocky Math Rock. - On the Western side there is Covet (I believe you checked out Yvette Young, who is part of that band), who do something similar to tricot in a lot of ways. They also have a great performance on Audiotree (Audiotree just finds a way to get a great balance between a live and a studio sound). There are a lot more I can throw at you, but we would be here all day. But thanks again for reacting to tricot. I don't know why, but they are criminally underreacted to. Possibly because a lot of people have trouble with complex music like this or maybe they get blocked a lot, I don't know.

I knew you'd count! Lol. Good job!

Nice. I´m going to suggest Elephant Gym in Discord.

Welcome to Tricot! The word “tricot” is the term for a type of warp-knitted fabric. An apt description of Tricot’s music. This whole Audiotree session is fantastic. Particularly “Melon Soda” and “Ochansensu-su”. Of course, I have have been suggesting their song “Dogs and Ducks” for a reaction. Ikkyu Nakajima (lead vocals) has several other musical projects. Genie High…which includes Enon (from Gesu no Kiwami Otome). I would recommend “Shaminami” as a good song to start with. There’s SUSU…her pop collaborations with producer, songwriter Kanji Yamamoto. She’s also released a few solo songs. Her song, “Dead”, has an interesting MV 😳. Plus her recent collaboration with Sheena Ringo on the song, “Offering Sake”. On the math rock subject…I’m still highly recommending Suichu Spica for a reaction……….
