I waited so long for this day.

Domination was my introduction to the Maids and ever since then, not only did I find a band I can really enjoy and love, I found a community that is like family across the globe as well!

In today's journey through the score, I found that Kanami added more to this recording and I feel silly that I couldn't hear it the first time, but to be honest it's hard NOT to listen to Saiki's voice.

I hope everyone, members and visitors, enjoy this reaction and analysis today!

Regarding your question about the stage, well you'll have to watch the whole DVD to find out 😁

When the Yokohama concert was streamed I must admit I got a little choked up as soon as they started. I think it was partly seeing how relaxed and happy they looked, particularly Saiki, I was expecting to see some nerves. For some reason I always seem to forget that they are highly professional, highly skilled seasoned performers.

The lyrics, especially the last stanza, are incredible, Po! Also, did you catch that there are callbacks to earlier songs in the lyrics? Hello, Hello, Hello from Be OK Don’t Let Me Down. (Also, keep running…🕊️🗼🏃‍♀️) Just Bring It.

😭😭😭 AGHHH!! I need to see!! I’m a horse with a carrot dangling in front of my face. 😆

NittPicc Reacts

I did notice that! I wasn’t sure if it was intentional or if I was imagining it. I should’ve known!

How many other bands write their intro music? Kanami did compose this, and we have called these intros as The Maid Waltz! Kanami never rests! I could listen to the entry music on repeat for days! Yes, they used all the areas of the stage!

Charles Coleman

🤣🤣🤣 We Know you just want to let it keep playing! I admire your discipline. But perhaps you should spoil yourself just once and let a second song roll as you go through this amazing concert. We certainly wouldn't blame you. In fact, I'd like to suggest a twofer for you. Try Brightest Star and the song that comes after it. The intro to that song is killer and super hyped!

Charles Coleman

Here's a hint. They use the whole friggen arena! And Saiki uses that center stage like the Badass Boss that she is!

I saw ZUTOMAYO at the Osaka Jo Hall, it was fantastic. If I had the opportunity to see Band Maid live, I wouldn't be picky. But preferably, it would be closer to home (living in France).

The Yokohama Arena disc screams out Discord watch party!

Charles Coleman

I have not yet been to Japan, but I have seen them 5 times so far. Echoplex in LA 10-1-2019 with preshow meet and greet - SO much fun! Then 4 times on their 2022 US tour. LA, San Diego, Philly and Boston. I think my favorite of those was Philly, partly because of the after party and also I got a Misa pick! They've been incredible every time. I'm not particular about where I'd like to see them, small club, big arena, no matter. The Maids kill it every time and the Maidiacs are so much fun to hang out with, coolest fan base ever! But I would like to see them get their Budokan show. They got robbed of that because of Covid and it needs to happen!

David Cousins

Having not seen them live, wish list, I would love to see them finally get their chance at Budokan. I am going to Japan to see Lovebites play Budokan, first time to Japan for me. I'm guessing the DVD you have has the behind-the-scenes extra disc, worth checking out and it is sub-titled. The one thing I would love for you to check out is Dice/Hate from the disc, worth the watch and listen - proper camera work and audio. As for the stage set up, you'll have to watch.

They did something similar in the song Manners.

The band's intro music is written by Kanami and varies over the years. The Yokohama Arena concert's intro music is absolutely cinematic. One of the things Kanami would probably nail would be the soundtrack to an action movie or a stellar opera.

Juan San

The sound mix of this concert is top notch, in my opinion on par with Studio Coast.

Juan San

They deserve to fill Budokan to the brim. And I hope they achieve it one day.

Charles Coleman

I think my favorite intro music was what they used during the 2022 tour. It started off just right. Mellow, passionate, emotional (it brought tears), perhaps to reflect on all the pain that we had all gone through during Covid. But then it kicked into high gear and suddenly, with the first strains of Sense, the curse of Covid was finally destroyed!

Here's a teaser, Akane does a model walk on it to show her new armor.

Domination, the OLV, was the one that got my attention and started my journey with them.

Eaglez1

That's not a hint Charles, that's spoiling her surprise s lol

I have not been to Japan, and don't have plans to. But if I could I would actually love to see them at Eggman Shibyua, the little club that was almost a second home when they were just coming up. I really enjoyed seeing them in an 800 person venue here in the states in 2023. Of course being on the rail helped a lot - had to get there at 9am to accomplish that, and I was #12 in line.

Happy Freight Dawg

As for the stage setup, just wait to see just how far they go out, WHILE PLAYING!

Happy Freight Dawg

Dream arena? Shibuya Eggman! Just because it reminds me of seeing Springsteen at the Stone Pony (gee, my age is showing!). Small and intimate! I doubt they’ll ever play it again now that they’ve hit the big time though.

2023 was my ultimate Band-Maid year. I saw them at the Tokyo Garden Theater, another big concert hall, in January and then in the same year this show at Yokohama Arena. I saw B-M 43 times now since 2015. This was the most incredible concert i did whiteness in my life, beside probably the Wall by Pink Floyd in London, Rory Gallagher in Belfast, Miles Davis in Montreux and Frank Zappa at the old Roman arena in Arles/France. But this concert was truly something special. B-M was in top form and enthusiastic to the max. A lot of very memorable moments happened there - not to be spoiled. I left the Arena covered in sweat and tears and my heart full of joy and admiration. The atmosphere and the fans were absolutely incredible. Band-Maid is the best thing that happend to this world since centuries and - sorry - there is no other rock band (including all subgenres like metal 😇) out there like them, they are the actual pinnacle of rock music … and Kanami is my endlos source of inspiration. I got my education on the guitar at the renowned Swiss Jazz School, I saw a lot of brilliant musicians, but Kanami really is something else. Thank you for all your wonderful and meaningful reactions. And I would like to see them at Eggman and hopefully once in the sold out Tokyo Dome.

armynurseboy

Kanami records all of the guitar parts, but Miku plays simplified rhythm parts live (she still has to sing after all) and other layered guitar stuff is on the backing track.

Are you still thinking about a watch party of this Okyuji? I wasn't at this arena yet still watched it live. Maybe a version with subs for the speaking sections for the watch party?

David Cook

I went to TGT Dec 7th 2025 but even though Budokan has lost its shine I would love to see them there, I was going to see them there in 2021 but the world stopped soooo......... edit: They have announced a tour final at Budokan (2 nights) but with my trip to Europe to see them I probably can't afford to go to Japan as well so soon.
