Just another warning here...I get really emotional talking about my old band director. He's been gone for quite some time now and watching something like this makes me really wish I could tell him about how teaching is going and such. I also wish I could thank him for making me the musician I am today.

This may not be the win that the Kaitauji High School band wanted, but that just means they need to push to their next goal!

A great movie but a little divisive in the fandom because they adapt the whole second year in one movie. And now we introduce President Kumiko Oumae. Round of applause!!!...clap clap clap. Nittpic, you will not survive season 3......without tissues. Bring A LOT of them. Especially the last episode. The concert song is "Liz and the Blue bird" full version, by composer Akito Matsuda. The ending song is "Blast!" by TRUE of course. Next, "Ensemble Contest Arc".

I actually rather dislike 'Nessun dorma' partly from over saturation because it's been played to death on mainstream classical radio/used in adverts & intros for sporting events and there's been a glut of non-reading 'lite opera' singers who release covers of it to prove they can do 'opera/classical' just learning/copying the Pavarotti recorded version by ear, not actually figuring out their own interpretation from the score. Of the famous versions Pavarotti's has it's reputation for a reason (Though I personally prefer Plácido Domingo's solo version. The Three Tenors version also is kinda excessive & doesn't work for me) but there's an arrogance to his singing that rubs me up the wrong way, he had lots of power but felt like a bull in a china shop at times where he was always strident and lacked the restraint to use subtlety. To be fair outside of that I'm usually more agreeable toward Italian opera than German, can't stand most of Wagner's works for example.

As Luis said you won't get through season 3 with dry eyes, what gets me as much as the content of the show though is why there's an extended four year gap between the release of this movie in April 2019 and the 'Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest' in August 2023 and then season three starting broadcasting in April 2024. This is partly because of the Kyoto Animation arson attack on 19th July 2019 that killed 36 people, injured an additional 34 (including the arsonist) and destroyed most of the materials and computers in Kyo Ani's Studio 1 building. It is one of the deadliest massacres in Japan since the end of World War II and a number of the victims worked on the Sound Euphonium series. As one tribute some of the employees/animators who perished are included in the audience during some of the competition performances of season 3.
