CatniP-icc I thought the same thing. Once the thrashy, heavy part started I felt some Metallica influence, especially in the way he sang some of the vocal parts. The phrasing "Drag ya down below..." "God ain't on your siiiiide" - totally a James Hetfield style vocal lick. (Yes, Metallica was first by many miles- formed in 1981) Btw, I also have only heard one or two AS songs- "Shepherd of Fire" being one. Can't remember the other one.

I started on YouTube but saw the fuzzed video ... so I knew to come here. I love you for doing this song for Halloween and wanted to see your facial expressions to the uncut version. You actually reacted to A Little Piece of Heaven from A7X last year. Yes ... for some reason you make a really great (adorable) cat ;) . The bell is the perfect touch ... now we won't lose you :p . Mike Portnoy is really a superstar drummer. I am not sure what happened between he and the band but sadly he is no longer with A7X. The Rev passed in 2009 and on the Wikipedia page Portnoy (formerly of Dream Theater) is not even listed as a past member :( . He was great ... and played on 2 albums with the band. M.Shadows however is one of my all time favorite vocalists ... and you know I do not follow a lot of American bands as you know. I bought the CD specifically to own this song. I'll throw myself on my sword here and say I'll listen to A7X way before I listen to any Metallica. I love the song... but the solo section is to die for ... no pun intended. They could have truncated it at any point but it keeps going. Musically it ... really floats my boat. I never really thought about a musical analysis of this song ... I don't know why. It certainly isn't linear ... we all have an affinity for NittPicc, especially here ... but I have literally watched 100s of reactions to this song and really enjoyed this ... Bravo. The video production here at least for me is 11 out of 10. The bands nightmare was losing their drummer ... that is his drum set in the closing frame. RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan 1981-2009 Hands down Freddie ... Freddie Mercury. Favorite deceased artist. Don't even need to think. Interviewer: What instrument do you play Freddie? Freddie Mercury: The crowd baby.

By the way ... NittPicc is not wrong. Many many people see the bands association with EMO and yes "stealing" from Metallica as a reason to dislike them ... from Google: Criticism of Specific Works Copying Influences: Some fans have accused the band, particularly on their album Hail to the King, of overtly copying the style of other bands, such as Metallica. The main character ... is getting a lobotomy.
