I couldn't help but fan-girl over this band...

The guitarist is absolutely amazing and everyone else is great too! I was so honed in on the guitarists sound overall because she was shredding the whole time!

I was thrown off when I saw the DJ girl off to the side and the back of the band that I wasn't sure what she was about to do UNTIL she took the mic and was rapping!

I wasn't expecting the sound of the band to be clean with some electronic music elements.

I went ahead and listened to the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas version to see what the original sounded like and...well...it's good too.

Both recordings are really good!

Raise a Suilen is one of the bands in the Bang Dream franchise, lots of great songs, original & cover, from the bands there if you wanna check them out m

This was my first time hearing either of these bands, but I definitely enjoyed listening to the RaS video way more. They looked like they would be tons of fun to see in concert. Definitely gonna check out more of their stuff.

This is the first song written by FaLiLV for Raise a Suilen and a second one was released recently. They will be doing a 2 man early next year hosted by RaS. RaS has also performed at a few festivals hosted by Fear, and Loathing called Mega Vegas. The reason why this audience is so large is because it's connected to the anime BanG Dream! which Raise a Suilen is a part of. They didn't show up until season 3 though since Raychell (ba/vo), Natsume (dr), and Reo (ky) weren't supposed to be in the vocal cast of the anime. They were the backing band that played live in support of the anime's other bands where the VAs couldn't play their instruments. At that time Poppin'Party's guitarist, Sae, was playing live with them until Riko (gt) joined at their first official live. At their second live Risa (vo/dj) joined and the members were set. Unlike most of the BanG Dream! bands RaS is treated more as an actual band and is allowed to go afield and do their own thing. When they tour on their own, not attached to an official BanG Dream! live, they tend to do 2k capacity venues. RaS actually do quite a few covers thanks to the rhythm game BanG Dream! Girl's Band Party. They have done an actual Fear, and Loathing cover with the anime OP 'Keep the Heat and Fire Yourself UP'. Their most recent cover was actually Creepy Nuts 'Bling-Bang-Bang-Born'. I love all the covers because it really hammers home how much of a vocal range Raychell and Risa have . What's interesting is the more I listen to RaS, PassCode, and Fear, and Loathing the more they sound instrumentally similar. It's all in the vocals to differentiate between the three. Japanese electronicore is actually pretty poppy on average. It's pretty interesting how harsh vocals actually color my perception of the genre and how much Minami and Emily/Yuna changes the tone of a song compared to Risa and her kawaii vocals.

What's interesting about their lives is that they are structured more like an idol live than a normal band live when they do a concert attached to the BanG Dream! franchise. It's super structured and everything is planned pretty thoroughly. If they are at a festival or their own lives they act way more like a normal band. They wouldn't be here now without the anime but if you keep up with their socials and watch a full live they don't keep themselves constrained to that part of their history.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I haven't had a chance to dig into their library yet, but I'm hoping to at least find a handful of decent live videos out there from both the anime side and just the standalone stuff. Any band that has more than one vocalist that does more than just backup vocals can be a hard sell for me, but this just flowed right for me.

RaS is my favorite BanGDream band. Yes, they have a DJ. They are an IDOL band assembled by a label ... the DJ was recruited and was not even familiar with the equipment when they started, They are gonna be polished .... mistake free due to the nature of the business. The BanG Dream! project, which includes anime, games, manga, and live bands with performing voice actresses, is owned and produced by the company Bushiroad. I am not sure how well received their brand of entertainment would be received in the US. It's all very Japanese. I prefer the FaLiLV version but I am sure that does not surprise anyone.

Having just recently discovered Raise a Suilen , came up on my feed and I went why not, I was amazed that I really like them. I would see them live if I had a chance, they sound amazing and their shows look to be awesome - and the crowds, full on participation. So please dive in some more with them.

The BanG Dream! universe can be a bit of a rabbit hole to dive into. Over a dozen (all-female) anime bands…seven of them perform live. A good visual explanation would be Ave Mujica’s “KillKiss”: https://youtu.be/l3iJTA7lmH8?si=2KP4Urls_XpOqA4Q As a bonus, here is the full length live version: https://youtu.be/0PGfVrLeXUU?si=GFhlDTdUF9bsEMKo Besides RaS and Ave Mujica, I would suggest Roselia and Morfonica. When Ayasa is not playing violin in East Of Eden or doing solo projects, she is also a member of Morfonica.

With how accepting of alt idols the West has proven to be I don't know how much trouble RaS would have in finding a Western audience. I think the biggest hurdle is that Bushiroad wouldn't want to forgo their own shows with RaS instead of letting them go overseas. It would have to be RaS wanting to do more shows that year, Bushiroad has never said no to this, and them pushing to do international shows. They have stated they would enjoy doing more international shows but everything would have to line up between VA work and their solo gigs.
