I have had this DVD in my possession for quite some time now and knowing that I have sitting on these 2 beautiful moments this whole time...

Let's just say that I am glad I am here now!

This purely acoustic performance of "Anemone" is absolutely gorgeous in how both Saiki and Kanami build up the climax of the song together with both voice and rhythm/chords.

...and yes. I cheated. I didn't pause. I kept going. I was told that it would be okay this time. So I did it.

...SAIKI on PIANO! YES!

This was the first time we got to see saiki play on piano it was amazing

Richard Knowles

Yep Piano debut at their 10th anniversary concert with largest ever audience. In their latest acoustic concert she is on keyboards a lot. She also plays it on Lock and Load instrumental on Scooooop And she did the keyboards in the anime Rock is a Lady's Modesty

Glenner7

So yes, Saiki chooses to make her public piano debut in front of eight or nine thousand of her closest friends, and she killed it. Let's also give a shout out to the lighting people at this show - both songs (and all the songs during this lengthy and epic extravaganza) had amazing lighting visuals. Not to be a broken record or anything after all this time, but I'm still patiently hoping that one day you will have a Discord watch-along of this concert, and maybe a Patreon video of the accompanying documentary, which is also great.

Nomad1991

Lock and load you can tell she has practice a lot adds so much color to that song

The best time ever to cheat! Bravo. Band Maid is the only band I know that can make everyone scream at the top of their lungs (Moe, Moe!) or remain breathless and silent (I´m still impressed by their last streamed acousitc concert), always at their command. And in an arena of ten thousand people! PS: low harmonies Kanami... mmmmm, love it!

Juan San

And yes. This was Saiki's debut on keyboards... in front of 10,000 people. Who the hell wants to take the easy way out? This DVD includes behind-the-scenes footage of the concert where the girls talk about how nervous they were, each facing their own particular challenge, in front of an arena audience. Totally worths it.

Dude...A rendition of "Choose me" with only Saiki at the piano???!!!..... Whaaaaaaat???!!!. I'm tryin to get this concert on blu ray (not easy in my part of the world). I'm gonna to try hard. About "Anemone", the rendition at Zepp 2018 is the first I've heard, and it's amazing. It's more intimate but this version is great too. Nittpic, don't forget to react to the "Choose me" MV after you finnish "World domination", it only was released in a single. One of my favorite songs of the maids.

Charles Coleman

This whole show was easily the best Rock show I've ever seen or been to. So many of us in the chat at the streaming were on a wonderful emotional rollercoaster. Our faces were wet off and on throughout the Okyu-ji, especially during The mini acoustic set with Kanami and Saiki and as if that wasn't enough, Saiki surprises us with this 24 carat gem. We were all so proud of her and so happy for her!

Charles Coleman

I agree with Glenner7 - We need to have a Discord watch party or two. 2018 Zepp Tokyo and this one here, Yokohama Arena. Thanks NittPicc! I hope you feel better soon! Don't forget the chicken soup!

The cheating is justified! When this first aired it was a huge surprise when Saiki and Kanami walked back to the piano most Maidiac's assumed Kanami would be on the piano! When Kanami walked away and Saiki sat at the piano it was stunning! Yes, this was Saiki's debut for Saiki doing piano in public EVER! I love this performance from Saiki!

My decorations will be going up this week.

And we mustn't forget that this is the first time Saiki has sat down at the piano in front of an audience... Alone... In the spotlight... In front of 8000+ people. I can still remember the live stream well, and as if the two songs before weren't already special enough... I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one with watery eyes in that moment, due to being in awe, but even more so, being just plain proud of Saiki. And no, I'm not embarrassed about that. :)

I watched the entire show last night, anticipating the TGT live stream next week - excited for it is an understatement. Saiki, particularly with acoustic/slower songs makes me emotional. She has become my favorite singer, and I do have a few that I love. Saiki's voice has gotten so much better over time, just listen to a live recording from 7-8 years ago - and she was really good then - and then listen to the same song recorded recently. I'm going to say it again, the acoustic show from April this year is still available. I know you have a plan, etc. However, I could be mistaken but I believe you have reacted to all songs on the set list and if not oh well. They are also live streaming the show at TGT, all info for both is on their fan page. As a fan worth it, IMO.

I have so many thoughts, sorry... Years ago, I had less admiration for Saiki as a singer. She was alright, I thought - not one of the great singers, you know, not a diva, probably never would be, but she had an interesting voice with some depth and it was a good voice for rock since it has that edge that cuts through the mix. At the time she also tended to be a bit pitchy live, though some people have blamed this on bad monitors; given how they buy high-end equipment this seems improbable to me, but who knows. Watching her growth has been quite interesting. I remember there was one live show in particular, I think it was a Euro show so this would be several years ago, and up to that point she hadn't done a lot with her vibrato - but at that show, she was just going nuts, it sprayed like a runaway firehose. I never heard her do that again, but afterward she used vibrato more, and a lot more deliberately. A couple of years ago, something changed in her - she'd gained some incredible new confidence, or the vocal coach she'd been working with since her surgery finally took her off the leash. That was during their US festival tour, 2023, which led up to the YokoAri show later that year. She sounded stronger somehow, more commanding. The pitchiness was gone by then, and we were getting more power, more of those tasty vocal fries, more everything. If you can find the forbidden "Show Them" footage taken by one of The Warning's staff, don't react to it, at least not on YouTube, but definitely watch it. There's a moment that I think Band-Maid or their management decided not to expose to the world where Saiki tries to come in with a gigantic power note, flubs it, and goes screechy instead. It may have been a disappointing moment for Saiki, but I respect the hell out of her for having the courage to try to go there. It's the same feeling when Miku goes for the high note in Sayonakidori, misses it, and we cheer like hell anyway, because we know she's giving it everything she's got. I studied Japanese for a few years. I think I was getting to the point where I could have maybe broken through the student wall and started doing conversation and watching native media - not comfortably, you understand, but as practice. Unfortunately, studying kanji was slowly killing my soul, I felt like I had stopped making progress, and work got really busy and stressful, so I quit because I couldn't focus on it anymore. Now I've forgotten a lot of what I knew. Sometimes I think about picking it back up again, but I would have to review so much just to get back to where I was that the thought is daunting, and it would feel too much like work to want to do it in the spare time I have. But I still understand words and phrases sometimes. The YokoAri show was overall nuts. I wasn't there, but I watched the livestream. 3 1/2 hours, so much music, and Saiki was on fire for most of it. Akane had a new drum solo (before Black Hole, and it's very good, much more in a pure drum solo style than something designed to fit inside Freedom), and we got the acoustic songs with Saiki and Kanami, plus the guitarists walking around the arena... a lot happened. We'd heard that Saiki was studying piano, and I think she'd done a couple of short piano-only videos on Prime by then, but I'm not sure anyone expected her to actually do it live. When she sits down at the piano, she says "bikkuri shita?" ("surprised?") That was something I hadn't forgotten, so I understood her immediately, and it was nice to be able to connect with her across the language barrier like that. And yes, I was surprised. Now, of course, she's played keys on a studio track (Lock & Load), and we expect she'll also play them live, though that remains to be seen (if she's coming out to play the instrumental, that still gives her a voice a break... but will she have to pee even faster??) You ask sometimes what it's like to have had the experience of following them for years and watching them evolve. I found them in 2018, before World Domination came out, and the thing I find most amazing about this band is that they just keep getting better. Every time we think they must have peaked, a year or two later they'll surpass themselves somehow. Saiki has grown from what I thought was a decent (but not particularly noteworthy) singer into someone with very precise and deliberate control over her voice, an enormous expressive range (both vocally and in her physical/facial performance on stage), more power and confidence than ever, and of course she has fantastic breath control and stamina to get through some of these songs and shows. Now that she's playing keys professionally, that's just another area where she has the potential for unlimited growth. I hope, and believe, that Band-Maid could become a legendary band whose work lives on beyond their time, and I'm glad that I get to see that legend being written.

William Hallisey

No one should ever be ashamed for shedding a few tears during this wonderful, beautiful performance. For a band known primarily for their high energy, fast-paced "melt your face" songs, they surely know how to also "melt your heart" with songs like "Anemone". Yes, Saiki's voice and performance skills have come such a long way, but her ability to learn and play keyboards are laudable. Wouldn't any musician love to have Kanami as their sensei?

seizetheday

What I enjoy about Saiki's solo piano playing on this song is that she didn't play to a click track.

Paul Bame

My compliments to whomever advised NP to cheat!! I melted during that whole livestream set, and then when Saiki sat down I forgot to breathe for a while.

Chris Bergsten

The guitarists have spent five figures on high-end amps and custom guitars. I don't know what Akane's spent on drums, but I know that Star Bubinga kit wasn't cheap, neither is that Ludwig snare. And I think they've all invested in home recording equipment. On top of that they go to every effort to provide the best live performances they can. The very idea that Saiki didn't have custom-fit IEMs, if the IEM was the problem that was making their stage perfomances objectively worse, is absurd. It could technically be true, but it's absurd. It simply doesn't make sense and therefore I prefer to believe she simply improved.

Eaglez1

There's a number of fan cam recordings of the regular version from the August '23 leg of their US tour; some pretty good ones, if you wanna see 'em

Paul Bame

My apology. Comment removed.

Puegoki

Just to confirm, yes she played the keyboard parts in Lock and Load in the second concert of the tour final at kawasaki November 1, I was there and was fantastic.

Rebecca Haigh

Yeah , that night with this song and Endless Story brought out a swarm of onion Ninja’s attacking men watching this live stream.
