I was not emotionally stable enough for this episode.

I wasn't ready to see Lakan run to Fengxian. I wasn't ready to hear the words...

Him stating he will pay whatever the price to have her...UGH! What is so beautiful is no matter how sick she is and how much she's changed, he still see's the beautiful woman he knows.

Also, how dare they tease me about that ENDING! SEASON 2, HERE WE COME!!!

Yeah, as show in this episode, Maomao only know what she heard off in the brothel, not the full story, but with her knowledge, she also know that she was wanted by her mother, she assume it was to trap Lakan, but it was for love too. It was mostly so by being pregnant, her price would lower drastically and Lakan could buy her, but they were and still are in love. Maomao is just her usual self and ghaslight herself on some part that she don't want to aknowledge. We also have another clue explaining why she dislikes Lakan, he's brilliant but makes no effort for it, while Lakan relies primarily on his intuition and lets others do the work instead of getting his hands dirty. Maomao, on the other hand, gathers information to be sure of her choices before embarking on an investigation, she confronts every mystery she chooses to solve. But once again, she is not honest, because Lakan may have guts feeling, that only works if you have informations to base them on.But it's true that he prefer to send someone do the work, because of his pathologie for once, but also because his mind work like this, he love to play game and strategizing, Maomao instead love to work by herself (even testing drugs and poison on herself), so it isn't really that Lakan is lazy, but more that they have a different way of doing thing. She just isn't honest with herself and about the people that surround her, but we love our socially awkward queen. Oh and about season two, let's just say that I consider it to be better than the one and I think you're not ready. You might see some 🐸 in comments, that is an inside joke that you will understand around the middle of the season. I won't say much to let you enjoy it to the fullest.

Season 1 complete!. Season 2 is so good also. "Seeds" that were planted this season will "sprout" in the next. So, be ready with some details that were mention in season 1 but there were left unfinished. This show has the virtue that it was enjoyed by a lot of different public. People that consume anime usually and general public that don't. All love it. For that season 2 and then season 3 and a movie are in the works. Maomao is a hell of character and the story was so intelligently written that when all come clear, we all stands with our mouths touching the floor. The insert song in the scene where Maomao dance is called "When Wishes Bloom". It has the same musical theme that "Flower in the snow" from episode 12. All originals from the show soundtrack.

NittPicc, I have a question. Do you think some of these anime intros be good school band or orchestra songs?

The first season laid the foundation of one of the best anime series (along with Frieren). Season 2 will just continue in this great tradition. BTW, her adoptive farther (Luomen) is actually Lakan's uncle. Just like all the great TV series that involves the male/female tension, that tension is what separates the best from the mediocre. Series that allows the two protagonist to acknowledge that attraction will eventually cause the series to fail.
