I hate to say it, but I was a lot like Megumi to a friend. Only I didn't want to have to be that friend forever. I want to see my friends, students, or anyone pursue their own hopes and dreams.

Megumi really liked being needed which when it comes to my pets, I can completely understand. There is a reason I have a dog. I want to come home and have him jump up with joy that I am home and am ready to throw his squeaky for him.

It's sad to hear that she was the one who spread the rumors, but at least she told Mari the truth and refused to break off the friendship.

I think Megumi lashing out starting unfounded rumours and trying to discourage Kimari, so she instead continues stay close and to almost entirely rely on her, are as much a commentary on both the insecurities and at times illogical behaviour of youth. If she were a more emotionally mature adult would she have acted the way she did, probably not (though there are plenty of immature adults out there). It's a reminder that the core cast, whilst going on a massive adventure as the central premise of the show, are still teenagers figuring themselves out. They will make mistakes, but how they react to and learn from those mistakes is one of the aspects I find so well written and fascinating. I know how the show goes in detail from watching it multiple times, yet I still root for them emotionally almost as much as the very first time, as they feel real to me despite being obviously fictional.

The biggest barrier to durian is the smell, that's true. I live in Southeast Asia so it's relatively easy to get the fruit when it's in season. If you can get past the smell though, it tastes good and there's various products that uses it, like that ice cream. Looking forward to see your reaction for the rest of the episodes!

Honestly, when I watch these shows that have more of an emotional plot, I get invested in them and believe these are real people. It’s crazy how I feel like that at times.
