Remember that one idol that sang in front of Yoru's beautiful mural?

Turns out she's 31 years old. You know what else?

She's got a daughter.

She may be a little odd and does everything she can to be an idol, but she's not a bad person. She's a great mother and you know what...she turns it around at the end!

It's fine getting older. It's just a number. What I don't want to have is an expiration date!

I think you misheard slightly, Miiko/Shizue's in her fourteenth year of being an idol and started when she was eighteen, so she's currently 31 going on 32. Typically even successful Japanese idols either retire or transition into different entertainment/singer roles by the time they turn 25, often having started in their mid-teens, there are some exceptions but they're rare. Assuming you've now got a rough understanding of how the chika (underground) idol scene works from the Miku Kobato documentaries, your personal life is usually kept completely private and separate from the idol persona. Typically you have to maintain the illusion of being single/'available' so your fans can project their affections onto you, 90+% are perfectly aware it's a facade, knowingly treat it as such & support you in a platonic fashion but it does also lead to the occasional unhealthily obsessed fans, think Mei but more entitled with even less social awareness.
