Stark showed up in this one.

I ain't gonna lie...that scene where he took on the dragon was so freakin' sick! Just watching him ride the neck of the dragon...I could imagine that in an actual live action movie scene!

I love how proud Frieren was when she saw that Stark took down the dragon on his own.

Eisen was right. He was afraid of Stark because of his strength!

It's always thrilling to see people react to the strenght of Stark and the why Eisen hit him, because we are still pretty early in the show and we haven't had big fight yet, so it is the first time that we see some action and it's meaningful one. Also, it's a good demonstration of "you don't know until you try", Stark was so afraid to fight the dragon because he had no experience dealing with monsters, but killing a dragon in two hit is something he will never forget and his selfesteem might be boosted after that. Small thing, it's good to rewatch the show with you, because I notice something that I haven't before, they talk about something in this episode, that has been not talked about until the season two, so I'm amazed that it was planted so much before, when it happen in season two, I believed it was something totally new, but no, there is the first mention of it here ^^. This show have a lot of loop, some event go full circle ect ect, I love Frieren for that, seeing this new thing make me love the show even more.

Stark's self-esteem issue is that he is comparing himself to Eisen. Thinking Eisen is a "normal" warrior and not knowing that Eisen used to 1v1 demon generals in the Demon Kings army. So, when you compare yourself to someone at that elevated level then yeah, you are going to think you suck. He had not been tested in a real fight until now. The Dragon did not attack the village because it knew Stark was dangerous and didn't want to mess with him. Also, next week you will start an EPIC story arc.

I just caught what I assume you're referencing, just under 13 minutes into the video. Both this and Apothecary Diaries are great at planting narrative seeds that only get a pay off far later.

That moment when you asked “Is it weird that that makes me want to cry?” is the exact moment I always want to cry. 🥲

Absolutely love your reaction to every single episode of Frieren. Thank you 😊 You should react (or at least listen, but I selfishly wish you react for us 😉) to the soundtrack, especially these 2 songs: “it’s fear that brought me this far” followed by “dragon smasher”. There is also a short flute solo during dragon smasher, my daughter loves it, I’m sure you will as well 😉
