Now this...this episode is why I freakin' love Frieren.

"The greatest joy of magic lies in search of it."

Our girl doesn't want to be HANDED something. She wants to discover it herself and not only discover it, but share it with others. No wonder Fern is a great apprentice mage...

She has a great teacher!

...and DUDE! Frieren destroyed the bubble! AHHHH!

Another interesting episode, we learned something new about Frieren and some of her back story.

After this episode, everybodies love Denken. The man never give up, don't hold grudges against Frieren, didn't wanted the girls to be killed and even out of mana, still willing to fight, and all of this to see a grave in his hometown. Also, yeah, it's even funnier and sader to see how Flame is perceived as a legendary mage that people even think she never existed, when the head of the magic association is her old master. She could do something about that, but then you remember how was Frieren before Himmel's death and you understand how elf aren't really sociable. But yeah, Frieren breaking the barrier will never not be cool.

"The old stuff still works." - As Frieren taught Fern, basic combat spells are enough to defeat mages of this era.

Finding out you play fighting games was really cool! Putting it in tekken terms, Frieren wins using basic pokes and punishment haha

In theory everyone participating could've passed the first test, statistically it was very unlikely but there was probably just enough Stille contained inside of the barrier to have one per party if everyone was smart enough with their behaviour. As for how many can eventually qualify as a first class mage from the test takers, there's not an upper limit per say, you just need to pass all the tests presented. But also sometimes you have occasions where from the group of mages entering no one passes all the tests. If you fail at any point but survive you can enter again, you'll just have to wait at least three years for the next round of exams. Some may enter one or more times, fail and each time learn what their weaknesses are to then train to compensate around for next time; whereas others in the process of testing fail and decide it's not worth pursuing further.

If you pause your video at 20:41, there are one or two frames during that time when the screen flashes into the outline of Serie casting the spell. It’s basically like Frieren is reverse engineering Serie’s barrier spell. The animators are so freaking cool in this show.
