Okay...this is what I tracked:

Empress Regnant took Shenmei hostage BUT Shenmei didn't know this and she thought she was a consort.

The Emperor slept with Shenmei's lady-in-waiting, Taihou.

Shishou was asked by the Emperor to marry his daughter (the mother being Taihou). Suirei is born from this relationship. After gaining the Emperor's trust, he asked to have Shenmei returned to him.

Shenmei returns to the Shi clan angry that Shishou married the daughter of her former lady-in-waiting. Suirei's abuse begins and Loulan is born. This is when Shenmei plots her revenge.

You got it right and it took me a couple of time re-watching some of the earlier episodes.

Loulan/Shisui is definetly the character i like the most of this second season, for a lot of reason, but her kindness is a big part of that, also "thoses who have died once" is a strange way of saying it, but it help so much people, like Suirei for exemple and thoses that were excluded from the clan, with this, she finished what Shisou have done, cleaning the clan of all its rot. About Jinshi being hurt, yep, Shenmei surely would have loved that Jinshi would become less beautiful. Shenmei was all about pride, the reason she wanted to be young again is to be beautiful because her hate and the ages made her ugly, si Jinshi who look just like the late emperor, who was already more beautiful than her, was an affront for her pride. But i suppose too, that Shisui knew that doing this, would force the soldats to fire and kill her, making an end to all this story, since the three heads of the Shi clan are now dead, Shisou, Shenmei, Loulan. I may have watched this episodes at least fifth time, but i still have a knot in my throat everytime Shisui start dancing, knowing what happen next. Now, i can't wait to see your reaction to the last episode and your final opinion on this arc ^^.
