⚠️NOTE: I was dumb and didn't check my recording equipment before this reaction, so I had to manually replace the music back into the reaction. I might appear off-tempo at times. I am sorry for the lack of professionalism!⚠️

The level of artistic and musical talent in this band is insane.

I really wish DIR EN GREY made music for SIlent Hill. I feel like their music would really fit the genre.

...and I am dumb and I am sure I've asked this question before, but...

Is DIR EN GREY still together?

Dir En Grey actually released a new album this year called Mortal Downer so I think that should adequately answer your question! They've released one MV from it so far, MOBS, and I'll do my best to work it in asap. It's pretty damn good. If I'm not mistaken, they're currently or about to embark on their 30 year anniversary tour of Japan. I've not played a Silent Hill game since the OG released back in '99, but I wouldn't argue with you that Dir En Grey's music wouldn't fit right into that universe. Toshiya uses a number of different techniques when he's playing bass, and I'll do my best to work in some of those videos as well. He's one of my absolute favorite bass players. Some day when I grow up I hope I'm as cool as he is. I'll know my mission has been successful when I request enough Dir En Grey videos that you'll be able to remember all their names. Lol.

Oh, and the sound was just fine. I never noticed anything being off. It was perfect.

There was no way in hell I was going to miss this!

After my second watch of this reaction I had the bright idea to google if Dir En Grey had contributed to any games or movies. This is what I came up with. Their song, Hageshisa to, Kono Mune no Naka de Karamitsuita Shakunetsu no Yami, was featured on the official movie soundtrack for 2010's Saw 3D. The translation is The Fury Entertwined with the Burning Hot Darkness in my Heart. They also had a few songs included in the 2005 Japanese action movie, Death Trance. Their song, Un Deux, was used in Japanese promotional material and commercials for Resident Evil:Revelations 2 from 2015 with the music video for their song Revelation of Mankind splicing in game footage. They had a downloadable song available for Rock Band 3 as well. Finally they had a song called Child Prey that was used as an opening/alternative theme for the anime Baki the Grappler from 2001. I've not watched that one yet, but now I have a good reason to give it a shot.

Haven't actually watched this yet, but saw the reference to Silent Hill in the comment. Most of the music for the Silent Hill franchise is done by composer Akira Yamaoka, who is the husband of the (very recently) former drummer of Nemophila, Tamu Murata.
