Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, S.1, Ep.22 - "Future Enemies" (Patreon)

I love the episodes that have a lot of action, but these episode are the ones that stick with me the most.

The moment where Frieren, Fern and Stark are all sitting at the restaurant table about to enjoy a bounty that cost Frieren all her savings...

The memories flooding in where the chef says that the meals will have the same flavor from that moment on and Frieren has doubts the food will still be good since she knows that chefs add their own spin on dishes.

When this episode finished, I went to the gym and thought about how actions, food, smells and such can trigger memories. This show does such a good job of showcasing how everything in life and memory aren't permanent. When her companions ask Frieren if she is going to eat all that meat made me think about the foods that trigger my memories.

As I was jogging on the treadmill I thought about my mom's menudo and late night cafecitos with conchas or Maria's galletas. The taste of those foods make me think of those late night chats with my mom. I am lucky to still have my mom in my life, so she's a phone call away when I want to make sure I make all her comfort food correctly but someday...

I'm gonna leave this here though, because Himmel made me feel like a hero this evening. Like him I believe in the same thing he said:
