I sometimes think this anime is really...well, weird. I remember being a little apprehensive of watching this show, but as we go along in the story, I get invested in the student's growth and their lives.

Seeing how far they have come in their assassination education is nice, but also hearing how Koro-sensei speaks about them is even better.

What he says should honestly be something every student should hear. He brings up some really good points. All of us, not just kids can learn from what is said in this show!

So, about Nagisa's look, there is a sort of reason in the story (but it will be spoiler) but there is also a more "manga/anime" reason. It's a really common trope in anime/manga, to have an androgynous characters. I think it come to the fact that in japan, they have both theaters with men actors only and one with women actress only, so they both play each gender. But it also come from the popularity of a 1972/73 manga/anime called The Rose of Versailles/Lady Oscar, who is the story of a french noble called Oscar during the reign of Marie-Antoinette, Oscar is publicly known and a royal guard and a man, but is in reality a woman. It was partially inspired by the real french spy, the chevalier d'Eon, a knight who was serving under the king Louis XV (15), and was well known for dressing both as a man and a woman, so much that bets were placed about his gender. He was also very loved in the court of Elisabeth the first, tsarina of Russia at the time and he helped with the diplomaty between the two countries (a really interesting historical character, and i don't say that just because he is french lol). But yeah, Oscar androgynity, based on the physique of the actor Björn Andrésen, was one of the most known phenomenon that we call in manga/anime, bishonen, which mean litteraly "gorgeous boy", the "bi" in bishonen being specificly used for girl/woman usually, even by the word itself it suggest andoginity. There is a lot of characters like that, even in well know manga, like Haku from Naruto, but you can find a lot in Knight of the Zodiac, with characters like Andromeda Shun or Pisces Aphrodite, both men. Since you like Sailor Moon, i can name Fish's Eye, an antagonist who look like a woman but is male and in reverse, you have Haruka/Sailor Uranus, you also have the three lights, that are male in civilian but female in their sailor form. In short, it is common place to have an andogynous characters in manga/anime, and for Nagisa, there is no queerness if i remember correctly. Maybe the autor would write him differently now, the manga is more than ten years old after all. I'm nonbinary and pansexual, so of course i'm pretty aware of questions about sexuality and gender, it could be easy to want to interpret something as queer, but we also need to retain that the mentality and societal awarness of a country may differ from another. I mean, japan still don't recognise same sex marriage even if many young japaneses want it. The country is divided between traditions and progressivism, a lot of elders are really conservative and that make the laws difficutls to pass. But there is also a lot of LGBTQ+ loved in Japan too, Queen Bee have Avu as singer, who is nonbinary too, there was also the famous actor Akihiro Miwa, who was a drag queen, a gay man, and played Moro, the she-wolf mother of San in Princess Mononoke and who sadly passed away in June this year. So it's not like Japan is anti queerness, but they have a weird history ^^'. On another side, another meta joke, when Koro say "no killing", you can see a scar on what would be his left cheek, it a reference to Ruroni Kenshin/Samourai X, since its protagonist is a samourai who had for rule to not kill anymore and a scar on the same place. It was also published in the weekly shonen jump btw.
