I could've sworn there was a small love story unfolding between both Violet and Leon.

Leon seemed so jaded and his story explains why he is. Violet unintentionally standing up for him warms my heart and I enjoyed seeing him warm up to her enough to invite her to watch that 200 year comet.

Leon's explanation of what loneliness was spot on. What would you describe loneliness as?

One of the things I notice about Violet was her stunted emotional behavior at the beginning of the series. That is often the results of living and surviving through the horrors of war, both personally and amongst peers. That stunted emotional behavior often masked PTSD that so many former soldiers experienced and why it has been and still is hard to detect among our veterans.

Violet has slowly but surely assimilated herself into (at the time of the anime) into society. I'm glad that she has been able to read and capture feelings of those around her.

As Hodgins once said to her “You are burning and one day you will realise you are covered in scars.” She still doesn’t understand what he said at this point but it’s a journey she is travelling.

Leon’s explanation of loneliness is good at explaining the loneliness you experience when you are apart from the person you love. True internal loneliness is much, much darker and turns in on itself.
