Hey y'all! In our latest Patreon exclusive video, Jon and Will joined Seth to learn the history of Japanese players becoming mainstays in MLB. We're talking Ichiro, Daisuke, even Shohei - incredible, superstar talents that most of us only know thanks to one very interesting guy having a lucky night playing baccarat.

We hope you enjoy and that there's plenty you'll discover in this video. I will state that this piece does raise one major question we still haven't solved, which is: how the fuck do you play baccarat? There's chips and dice and card and maybe no dice but definitely chips but it's not poker or is it? Do any of you know how to play baccarat? If so, do you recommend it? If so, do you recommend we find time to learn it as a live stream?

Hope you have a happy Monday and we'll smell you later.

I will always appreciate the use of the Simpsons technical difficulties sign. Though you really need to get someone working on photoshopping Jon over Kent Brockman.

baccarat is a total scam that enjoys more popularity than it deserves because of James Bond films. the simplest way to explain it is that it’s like playing blackjack, except both the house and the player have to abide by the house’s rules of when to hit or stay. if you go over 9 points in your hand you roll over back to 0 and go from there; so, a 2+4 (6) beats 7+6 (13, becomes 3)

John Hilborn

Baccarat’s surprisingly easy. Closest to 9 wins!

Seth Rosenthal

Oh one note: I said Hideo Nomo went back to Japan. He didn't! Finished his career in MLB -seth

liam says sorry about the long name

so what's the patron level that gets the tangent cut? this was excellent (as always), very informative, very funny, I'm glad Burt Baccarat invented baseball

Hunter

Baraccat is blackjack for people who don't want to have to make any decisions

PsyMar

I need the tangent cut. The stupid, ridiculous tangents about Time or whatever are why I became a fan of Jon Bois/Secret Base in the first place

David Dyte

I saw him pitch in LA when he was back with the Dodgers a second time. 2004 maybe? Awesome fun.

David Dyte

Also making headlines and boosting baseball in 1995: Cal Ripken's Iron Man chase and THAT home run.

Assigned Conor At Birth

You've got a magical formula here with Seth exasperatedly trying to explain something while Jon and Will keep goofing around and throwing him off

FRESHPOETIC

Will this be released as audio on the Patreon RSS? If not, it should be!

Will Buikema

We’re looking into that, Patreon had an update where we can set up multiple RSS feeds so trying to figure out if that would make sense to set up a few or if one spot for all things that work as audio drops should go to the one spot… thoughts?

FRESHPOETIC

I think so! I would love a one-stop-shop for all audio. I’m sure to listen to everything that way!

Paranundrox

Maybe a main podcast feed and a secondary feed for all the audio stuff? It would be nice to be able to filter out accordingly

Jordan Cummins

Can we also get a Baccarat lets play? clove ciggarettes, NPB jerseys, sunglasses, round table, whatever equipment baccarat requires etc I'm not SURE it'll be sponsor friendly, but hey thats what patreon is for.
