We are very, very excited and not anxious at all to offer you an advanced look at our newest series. It has been way too long since we've gotten to bite off something like this and have been working on it for a minute. So, as a thank you for being part of this, we don't want you to have to wait for the final thing to hit YouTube (in early August).

Welcome to "Big Deal," a look at milestone decisions throughout sports history. From trades to free agency, in-game to draft day, we're exploring these moments and trying to dig into the "why" or the "what other options did they have" or even the "wait what the fuck?"

Most importantly, we want to hear from you. This series still has so much room to grow, evolve, expand, a fourth synonym for change, and we want to do all of that with you in mind. Got a story idea? Throw it our way. Not feeling the thumbnail? Great, let us know! Hate the music? Politely tell us why it troubles you.

Hopefully you aren't still reading this because you're enjoying the episode, but if you are - thanks for being here.

lol you could totally do this with the Don Sweeney bruins. So many “wtf were they thinking?” Deals, draft picks, trades…

Pretty good video.

Minnesota Vikings running out of time at the draft and the AJ McCarron trade mishap

Ooh, I like this idea! Maybe expand it to include things like rule-changes, media rights deals, mergers, etc.

Jonathan Bottorff

Probably gotta do one on Saints signing Drew Brees

Clara's delivery on "It's a little confusing, even for me, a genius" (4:54) was genius. No smirk or indication that it was said for humor. Just a straight telling of the facts at hand.

Jim Campbell

There are some cases of clubs that were viable, even dominant, but didn't survive a league merger (Kentucky Colonels!) One man's decision created the Seattle Metropolitans, the first American Stanley Cup champion.

Jon Bois's first pass at Robinson Cano's move to the Mets, in the Mariners saga, was good...but it leaves the impression there's much more to tell. How likely was Cano's contract to run to completion, generating all of the accompanying agent's commission, if he stayed in Seattle? Enquiring minds want to know.

Shreyas Ramani

Montreal Expos if the 1994 player strike didn’t happen

looking forward to the new series! solid start. Would like to see one about NASCAR, if possible.

PsyMar

for the fourth synonym for change may I suggest morph?

PsyMar

as far as milestone decisions, in an effort to pick something less obvious than The Decision (LeBron), hmm. Is Brock for Broglio still well known outside of cubs fans?

Keita O Erskine

I'm immediately curious to see an episode on Juan Soto or Luka Doncic. I know those are recent but they're impactful.

Richard Angle

Drafting Ryan Leaf would be a good one. What other options did the Chargers really have?

A Guy who Knows what a Block Zone is

It's a minefield that you guys may not want to touch, and we may need to wait a little while before we know the full fallout, but this concept immediately made me think of the Deshaun Watson deal, both because the actual signing process and pursuit of an alleged sexual predator was insane (Watson ruling the Browns out and then changing his mind when they offered a ridiculous contract), and the fallout of the other owners being pissed at the Haslems and the various other quarterbacks who tried and failed to get a contract like Watson's. Plus, the best part, that alleged dickface has been awful on the field since signing that big contract.

Secret Base

we've got a different chargers related one in the works for the opening run if you've got any guesses

Cristina Almaraz

"Good night and good game" is such a good sign off, I love it every time. Awesome first episode!

Richard Angle

Choosing Rivers over Brees? Or maybe Eli refusing to play for them?

this just seems like a rewinder though. going over some scandals that isn’t covered well in video form, as in hidden by algos and those before youtube, would be the way to go imo. basically wiki deep dives like say david stern absolutely hating seattle because of their funding situation or cocaine cowboys
