I've got football fever, she's got football fever

We've got football fever, we're in love! (in the tune of Stevie Wonder's 1991 "Jungle Fever")

That’s how I imagine we're all feeling, especially with the World Cup touching down in North America. Or maybe it’s just me. Anyway, soccer has been inescapable for the past month, and the World Cup has provided endless moments for veteran watchers and newbies of the game learning about the annoyance of the offside rule. While the tournament has been great, no matchup has compared to the 2022 World Cup Final between Argentina and France.

The final had it all. A setting that had no business hosting a World Cup, a dramatic late-game comeback, two top nations pushing each other to penalty kicks, and in the middle of it all, two of the game's top stars, Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi. For Mbappé, a win would further solidify his status as one of football's best, adding a second World Cup to his very young, promising career. For Messi, it could very well be his last World Cup in a career filled with countless accomplishments, yet a trophy that’s eluded him for years. It really doesn’t get any better than this. AND to get ya even more excited, this is the first Rewinder with a renewed look, thanks to our girl Charlotte. Trust me, you don't wanna miss this one. Let’s rewind!

Argentina won it in 1986, not 1988

Good chance of a rematch come Sunday, but I doubt France will be denied this time

Spain said otherwise, dominating performance today

when mbappe tied it up in extra time, my partner and i laughed so hard at how ridiculous this game was. sadly i had to go pick up dinner and missed the whole shootout :,(

This was great, though I will say, I was a bit surprised there was no mention of the incredible Emi Martinez save in the 123rd minute... if not for that, France wins 4-3 AET and we look back on this final completely differently, not to mention the historical significance of today's semifinal vs. England is even greater as well. Still a great video though, rewinders are always fun!
