Hi, it's Seth. We had a long conversation at the office the other day about people who are famous just for ... being famous. You know that feeling when you're plenty familiar with a celebrity's name and face but you don't know ... why? Where the hell did they come from? These days, I guess the answer is usually reality TV, but you'll also find occasional answers like "was an actual creative person 20 years ago" or "has famous parents" or "crimes."

In the case of Rick Fox, the answer, of course, is basketball. The man is now an actor and businessguy and eSports executive(?) and a senator in the Bahamas (!?). Before that, he was the reliable utility guy on the Shaq-Kobe Lakers. Before that ... well, that's what I want to talk about.

Before alllll that, including the Lakers part, Fox was a teenage basketball novice turned high school star who got banned(!) from his senior year of competition. His career at UNC was compelling but not quite victorious, while his early NBA stint had him on track to become one of the Celtics stars of the future until Rick Pitino intervened. Before Fox was everywhere, in every industry, he had a fascinating career just within basketball. Let's take a look!

Oh, and you're seeing this with no ads like five days before it goes up on YouTube! Cool!
