Message from AGI-Stories…

Beginning with this post, the title format of Ailana's Diary, The Chosen, and River City Connections will have a streamlined, uniform format. I think that will make things easier both visually and when trying to locate anything posts from the past.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this!

Thanks!

Good Morning

Look who’s back on the beach! I wanted a good morning post so everyone would know I’m back home. I thought this would beat me brushing my teeth or drinking coffee!

Jason, Geoni, Josh, and I came down for a little walk. I think I told you once, our house is just a few steps more than 500 feet from the surf. Jumping into some shorts and a tank top isn’t a lot of work if you are up for a quick feel of the sand between your toes and the sound of the waves in your ears.

But… the week awaits! One of the writers I ghostwrite for likes to build worlds more than he likes to tell stories…

Now, before you ask… the whole point of ghostwriting is that someone else gets the credit. I can’t actually take credit—that would undermine the whole system.

My own creative work really has become the diary and the stories I tell here.

Back to the world builder… So, this guy has a scene that has a lot of blocking and dialog. Where the characters are and where they move is vital to moving the plot. I share this to say that today, if you come by, and I’m hopping around my condo acting out the scene, just know I’m trying to make sure what I write actually means what I think it means…

(making up fake names)

Caden rolled from the sofa onto the floor, looking frantically in his pocket for his comm module.

In the ship’s galley, Agent M laughed. “Call ops. They won’t answer."

Jammed! Caden’s thoughts whirled.

So, yeah… something like that.

Okay… time to turn back and head for Beach Access #7. See you later.

It Really Is Work

I’m sure rolling around under the imaginary reactor interface looks more like a 4th grader playing than a grown person working. I’m not crazy. I’m looking for words.

Here’s your quick lesson for today. It’s about communication.

I have an idea. I pick words that are symbols of smaller ideas. I combine the small symbols into some order that I believe conveys the bigger idea. You hear or read the stream of symbols and decode them into the small ideas, then you combine the small ideas into a big idea that hopefully aligns with the original idea I had in the first place.

Let’s just skip over the nuance that in English words can have completely different meanings! For example, “bow” has at least five meanings that are totally different!

Similarly, some words are latent with subjective context drawn from our past life experiences. If I say, “Caden had a lot of money” that might mean something different if you are a 14 year old in Indiana compared to a 30 year old in Miami.

This idea actually relates to what I’m doing today. I’m picking words that I think will, to most people, have meaning that is pretty close to the ideas I want to convey.

And that… that’s what I do. I am a writer. (Who also models from time to time and likes to drag burned tree limbs around to help stop erosion, and I might also do volunteer work at shelters, and… never mind!)

I’m stopping for lunch soon. Geoni and I are making something for everyone. Haven’t decided what we’ll cook up, but we thought a group lunch would be a good idea to sort of reset the AGI Stories work for the near future.

I’ll be back tonight, so see you then!

Good Night

Monday has reached its end. I just came in from the balcony. It’s mostly clear and in the low 70°Fs. I stood there listening to the surf gently spilling onto the beach. The breeze, steady from the Gulf, carried that scent of sea that reminds me why I love living here.

I stood until my senses were satisfied, then retreated back inside. I stopped here in the kitchen to say good night.

The day was productive, but I feel like I’ll just save sharing details until later. Next for me is a simple few steps to the bedroom and into bed for the night.

Every “today” is followed by a “tomorrow”—it is always the eve of something, so at times, it’s fine to just pause, take a breath, and treat yourself gently.

May you find joy in all that you do. May you prosper greatly, and may your abundance spill over to lift those in need.

Good night.

Be your best you!

"Thank You" Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just at $100 per month.

Patreon members… You are covering a nice portion of that.

I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.

While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Again, thank you very, very much.

Sounds like you have had a productive day. I have to say I don't fully understand all of the "symbols" lesson, but I understand the Caden part. I consider you to be a creative writer. I am a webpage maker. Others tell me what they want and I make that happen. So I admire your creative skills. That is a great closing quote. I bid you goodnight.
