NEW HORIZONS by Kirina Yung
I left work and came home early. There was nothing out of the routine going on at Sea Glass Gallery, but as the day wore on, I could feel tension in my back and shoulders. At the risk of invoking stereotypes, I decided to roll out the yoga mat and exercise.
And, just for the record, yoga grew out of ancient Indian culture. I am not really trained in it, but I’ve watched YouTube. I actually probably have created a routine that is part yoga, part Tai Chi (which is from China). Also not trained beyond YouTube!
As I worked on my back, I also let my thoughts meander. It occurs to me that my life since I was 17 has been characterized by looking beyond the horizon. Where I am is not where I will be in a year. Far from where I’ll be in five years.
At 17, the horizon was something vague beyond the inevitable end of the K-Pop band. And horizons, once reached, simply reveal that there is yet more in the distance.
I think that’s why sailing allures me. A few miles of ocean lie between where you are and what’s unseen.
Yet, with sailing, there is a harbor somewhere. The marina awaits, a safe haven, for my return.
Still… could there be other marinas, just as safe, just as satisfying?
That thought has grown in me over the last few weeks. And I cannot deny that meeting Eli a few days ago has not fed it.
He did text—a simple message: “It was nice to meet you. If your offer to show me your gallery was sincere, I’ll look forward to it!”I texted back: “Definitely! Hope to see you soon.”
Obviously, it is far too soon to make anything of it.
However, my grandmother often injected herself into everyone’s romantic life. She had an expression that haunts this situation.
“It is not necessary to be forever looking for something. You can decide that you were looking for the thing you already found. Happiness is a decision to be content and at peace with what you have.”
And no… that’s not “settling.” It is deciding that you’ll venture to the next horizons together.
Be your best you!

"Thank You" Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just at $100 per month.
Patreon members… You are covering a nice portion of that.
I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.
While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
Again, thank you very, very much.
