MORNING HIKE by Cindi Curtis

Happy Sunday, friends! This past week felt steady in the best way. Work stayed on track, my anxiety never spiked beyond its usual hum in the background, and Michael and I had some of our sweetest evenings yet on FaceTime. Nothing dramatic, just… good. And honestly, good is pretty wonderful.

Yesterday was about as routine as a Saturday gets—laundry, greenhouse chores, a grocery run, catching up on some ClearStream tasks, and tidying the loft office. All normal. All stable.

But the funny thing is, even with such a quiet day, it still felt full because Michael and I were on FaceTime for probably eight hours straight. Not intentionally—we just never hung up.

At one point he stretched out on his sofa “for a minute,” and then the screen tilted sideways and he was out cold. I watched him nap while I folded towels, and it struck me how oddly comforting that was. When you’ve spent years navigating anxiety, the quiet presence of someone safe—even asleep—feels like a gift.

I’m heading back home now to get ready for church. The air is cold but not biting, and the trail looks beautiful even without snow… yet. These morning hikes before church reset my thoughts better than anything.

And tomorrow night—Michael will be here. I still can’t believe it. I’ll be staying with Mom and Dad for the week, and he’ll be at the hotel in town.

It feels like a gentle way to ease into the reality of becoming a real-life couple instead of a FaceTime one. Familiar places, familiar people… and a little breathing room while we figure out what “us” looks like.

Oh… and I still haven’t talked myself out of going to Memphis for Christmas!
